Filefront shutting down:(

This sucks:( I use filefront for almost all my downloads. They gave great high speed internet speeds without having you pay at all. But now its getting shut down because of this crap economy:(

Best site for download patches and demo.Very sad:cry:

Edit: If any site should shutdown it should be Rapidshare.Crappy download speeds and they make u wait for your download.

I dislike GamersHell for a variety of reasons:

• Poor site layout
• Choosing from servers is annoying
• Majorly inconsistent download speeds

Never did like that website. FileFront was always miles ahead of it, with no ques, reliable downloads and consistent speeds, very easy site navigation and a great search engine, etc.

I'm sick right now. Seriously sick. FF was the only reliable download site I ever bothered visiting, and one that completely did without the "registration required" BS, as well, unlike many other websites (GamersHell not included, which is a big plus for them despite the drawbacks I listed).

Please excuse me while I vomit my guts out. We've just lost one of the best file-downloading sites on the Internet, folks.

They're pretty much the only alternative now.

Once, and if, GamersHell goes down, we're pretty much done for and had better prepare for long ques, registrations to tons of websites we know nor care nothing about, and crap download speeds even when it's all said and done.

I agree it sucks hardcore. Very sad the entertainment industry is suffering so badly. I am still trying to deal with EGM going under.....was my favorite magazine.

Who was it that owned FileFront until recently and who took it over?

I know it was in the news a few months back after one company collapsed and there was a lot of speculation that they would just shutdown FileFront - and this proves them right :(

EDIT - I stopped being lazy and Googled it

It was the sale of 1UP that lead to this and the closure of EGM :(

Filefront was one of the few places I could instantly start downloading. Who honestly wants to wait 42minutes for a 8mb patch?
