Hi,

I am looking at getting a new game and it is going to be 1 of these 3. Before i actually buy them i was wondering if any of them would play on either XP or Vista. At the moment i have 2 PC's, 1 running XP another Vista.

I'm useless at the technical side of games so any help would be appreciated.

Thanks :D

i'd go with grim fandango. but then again, i hate ff and all jrpgs. i consider grim fandango the best adventure game of all time.

here's a guide detailing how to get grim fandango to work on xp:

Is FF9 even out on PC? I guess you can get FF8 and make it look a lot better than the ps1 version. Just google and visit some forums, they'll tell you how to do that.

I'd get both, it's not like they cost a lot. (or do they?)

Be warned if you have a recent graphics card then you'll have to run FF8 in Software mode. It doesn't look too great.

FF7 has however been modded to make the graphics look a lot better.

How do i run it in software mode?

And are you saying FF7 will work normal, just install and play?

You set it up in the config.

The reason why there is a problem is because recent graphics cards haven't got Pixel Shaders (or something along those lines).

FF7 has apparently been modded, which you would need to install. I actually don't know if FF7 has the same problem as FF8 with pixle shaders...

Also I personally wouldn't bother with FF8 get Grim Fandango, but that's just my personal opinion.

FF8 has got atrocious ported controls from the Play Station

FF9 isn't on PC

FF7 and 8 didn't work on my PC

Either way, go with Grim Fandango, it's a much better game than any FF

I'd get Grim Fandango over the other FF7 and 8, they're just not worth it. However, all three might cause issues on newer computers. Having a dual-core processor causes some old games to run twice as fast (like everything is super-speedy), I'm not sure if they're affected. I do know that Grim Fandango somehow crashed my comp and changed the BIOS.
