I wish IW would just tell us, truthfully, why they made IW.net...the "for teh gameplay" excuse just doesnt cut it with so many exampels such as that vid.
Well, my guess would be that it saves money and time. Why bother adding something when they already have enough to make record sales? To please the fans? Ha ha ha, good one. Glad you enjoyed it!rofl perfect example

It's painfully obvious. They were too lazy to actually work on the PC version so they made a crappy 360 port instead.rofl perfect example

Idunno, I suppose a lot of the "artistry" many developers once had is gone.
While part of me hopes that a developer anticipating (and later receiving) record sales would say "Hey, we're gonna be getting hundreds of millions of dollars over the span of a month, lets put in an extra 5% and make the PC version a wee bit more special" I guess it is too much to ask.
yeah it seems about right, i remember halo 2 and 3 and graw on the 360 taking almost that long, most of the time. which can be annoying.
also on dedicated mod servers, downloading maps can take up to a few minutes as well... which can be annoying. but if you have the maps, its so much faster, and way better pings. (and even though downloading them can sometimes take a few minutes, you got to love the ability to have almost limitless maps.)
both have their pros and cons..
but i really think IW really messed up on codmw2, i think they might just be trying to keep people inticed just long enough for them to come out with another COD style game, and use that as a promotion, and millions will come back just on that notion alone.. "IW is having dedicated servers in New COD IP" or something. i dont know, just a guess.
[QUOTE="L1D3N"]we told you. in fact we begged you. Yeah I could have sworn he put up quite an argument against everybody complaining about MW2 lol... oh well, I guess he found out the hard way.I'm finding out that the game isn't worth the money I spent and MP is frustrating. Infinity ward has lost a fan and I will never again buy a game that they make.

Glad you enjoyed it! Well but that's the part I don't get... I would think having dedicated servers would be easier, because they could have third parties hosting them instead of building their own game network.rofl perfect example

I was watching my friend play the 360 version last night, he cycled in and out of lobbies over 25 times before he finally was able to play the game. He sat there for about 10 minutes!
Sometimes it's just awful. Oh well, I've heard they're (the fanbase) "hacking in" dedicated server support. We'll see how that goes.I was watching my friend play the 360 version last night, he cycled in and out of lobbies over 25 times before he finally was able to play the game. I think matchmaking in general in any game is just complete crap. I'd take custom server search over matchmaking any day.
I don't see how that's a legitimate comparison. I've clicked "find game" and jumped into matches already in progress in the same amount of time it took him to get in CS. The CoD game was in intermission...
Not really a good example, considering the game of CS was in progress... would have been just as fast (if not faster) if he had joined a game in progress. Not to mention the reason it took so long is because of the 1 minute intermission between games, dunno about you guys but I use every second of that minute editing classes and checking my challenges to see what to aim for next round etc. In CS the intermission wouldn't be useful, in MW2 it is.
In saying that CSS is my favourite game and I play it competitively, MW2 is a fun game I play casually.

QFT, though no one here seems to care.
For those that are talking about an unfair comparison , please consider that the very nature of a dedicated server is such so the population numbers most of the times have a certain/finite behaviour . For example , you may login into a clan/pub server at 14:00 , leave after 10 minutes and then rejoin at 17:00 . It is most likely that the population will be there with less or more members. The video in fact tried to compare 2 different versions of MP - Matchfinding/making functions: The classic one that involves dedicated servers and the other one with the P2P function.Personally , in CoD 2 (!) i have picked up certain dedicated servers that their numbers range between 20-54 every moment. In contrast with that , MW2 doesnt seem to give you such luxury since you cant really decide whether or not you will join a game in progress or the opposite.
I agree, not a fair comparison. You ended up in the lobby just as they had finished a game and the 1 min intermission started. Not really a good example, considering the game of CS was in progress... would have been just as fast (if not faster) if he had joined a game in progress. Ur right..But aren't those intermissions just Mind Numbing though? Eeesh! I get so frustrated having to wait for some random server to connect and then have to wait 45seconds for it to almost start - then another few moments to begin match - then even more time to actually load the game!!I don't see how that's a legitimate comparison. I've clicked "find game" and jumped into matches already in progress in the same amount of time it took him to get in CS. The CoD game was in intermission...

The past COD's are much nicer - u simply refresh the server list and then pick one - takes usually under 30secs to enter the game!!

That's a great one. It's only fair to compare MW2 to MW1 and this is a perfect example.

yeah ground war is a **** if you don't find one in progress/intermission, people are so impatient it's ridiculous if everyone didn't leave after 5 seconds of waiting it would be easy to fill games.

They honestly don't bother me at all. If it starts to take to long I simply get out of the lobby and find a different one. I'm not in this huge rush of seconds that everybody else seems to be in.
