So now we've got 3 remakes! Xenonauts (2D tilebased x-com remake) That fps thing and now this one. So far the only one I'm interested in is Xenonauts.

Remakes are good if done properly. Otherwise they just destroy my childhood memories. (Golden Axe: Beast Rider / Turok)

Actually, if you want to get technical, I think UFO Extraterrestrials 2 is also still being worked on. The first one was not great, but maybe the next one will be better.

Also, this would not be the first appearance of X-Com on a console. X-Com 1 and 2 were released on the Sony Playstation. The controller slowed the controls down compared to a mouse, but the game worked just fine. If they do it right, there is nothing stopping this game from being great on both platforms. I actually have a lot of faith in Sid Meier and Firaxis games. To be honest, I could scarcely think of a better man for the job. Sid is one of the best turn-based strategy designers of all time.

Could be good, depends a lot on if they can get the atmosphere right.

And Frédérick Raynal, announced a remake for Twinsen's Adventure. Today was a glorious one for old-school PC gamers.

I'm glad to hear that they are doing a 'real' X-Com game in addition to the FPS. Fireaxis has a long list of solid turn based isometric games behind them, I could think of worse studios to pick up the x-com torch.

I find it funny that the original Civ, Civ Revolution and that piece of crap Facebook Civ are the only games in the series he actually designed.â

He is influential at Firaxis, of course, but the bulk of the work is done by other people.

I heard rumours they're working on a science-fiction game that is basically Alpha Centauri's spiritual sequel - Civ in space and all that. We'll see how that goes.

Up until X-Com I'd just been a PC gamer. After I was addicted. Here's to hoping it's everything the original was and more...
