Firefox not remembering passwords

The past few days I have noticed that everytime I close out of firefox it doesnt save my passwords and forms. I checked all the setting and the "delete files on exit" is unchecked. Can anyone that maybe has the same problem be of any help? Thanks in advance.

What causes this to happen? And you have to format the whole hd?

I had no idea you should reformat occassionally. What does that entail - just reinstalling everything? bodug60
