First Computer. Will this make a good Rig?!

Wow, that thing is going to be slow - you're going to use a Samsung Hard drive as RAM?

That aside, here's what I'd change:

Scrap the 680i board - pick up a P35 board instead, or possibly an X38 board if they're out by the time you buy.

Pick up some RAM - I'm fond of Crucial, but any major brand should do fine.

I'd change the power supply for something else - maybe an Antec Truepower Quattro, Corsair HX, Enermax Liberty/Infiniti or PC Power & Cooling Silencer.

Get a SATA DVD RW drive instead of an IDE DVD ROM. It's not a bad way to spend $10.

I'd either drop the soundcard, or go with something a little beefier.

Fanboyism aside thats a nice rig tho does the "Q" infront of 6600 mean its quad? If so I would get a duel core as some games dont even use duel core yet but if you have the money go for quad but I would wait for the AMD Phenoms to come out and see whitch one rapes who.LouieV13

Of course it will, there's a massive 500GB Samsung memory in there :)

On a serious note, typo on the RAM part. But overall a good rig.

I only use intel for desktops, but i have an AMD Turion 64 laptop.

Also i had my old P4 2.0ghz without the cooler for 3 weeks and it didnt die :s i wanted to kill it :twisted: but it was like the inmortal moths that attack us T_T
