Hey, I just bought my first PC gaming headset. Looking at the set up, pretty straight foreward: pink mic plug into the pink mic jack, and green headphone plug into the gree headphone jack. I did that, but I was kind of disappointed with what I got. The same audio was being channeled though both the headset and my speakers. The mic works fine, but I was wondering if there is a way to set up my headset much like how an Xbox 360 headset works:

-Game audio on PC speakers ONLY

-Voice chat on headset ONLY.

If anyone has any advice for me, I'd greatly apprechiate it. =]

what you just described is a microphone not a headset. I guess you could try unplugging the audio out on your headset if you really dont want to hear anything on your headset, other than that there isn't really anything you could do.

Well, yeah, it's a headset with a mic. And I do want to hear audio, just the voice chat from other players.

unfortunatly there isn't a way to only have the voices come over the headset and not the game audio as well.

That's very strange. I bought the Razer Carcharias, figuring it was a very good quality headset, and didn't mess around with all that 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound in headphones stuff.

Personally, I prefer to have a good external speaker system rather than good surround sound in my headphones.

So, it more or less seems like there's a choice to be made: use a headset, or use speakers.

I just wanted a good quality headset to communicate with PC gamers online.

can anyone point me in the right direction??

Judging by what I said, was my decision to buy the Razer headset a bad one???

i have a logitech USB headset, and unless told otherwise voice-chat wil come through the headset whereas the game sound will come through the external speakers. i dont know if what you want is possible with non-usb headsets

It is entirely possible to configure it the way you want it depending on which program you use..as long as you can set a specific output device for voice, then you're fine. i.e. Ventrilo and Xfire. If you're using in-game voice chat most of the time, it's not going to work.
