Start all over, power down, removal all the parts that aren't needed and just run with a video card, RAM, CPU & cooling. Try booting then and see what happens.
ok i did that...uhmmmm still have a blank screen. the heatsink fan is going the video card fan is going and the psu fan is going.habitat
Getting any beeps?
Do you have the motherboard holes lined up with the case standoff/mounting studs? Prolly not an issue if you already had liftoff.
Besides messing with the KB/Mouse did you make any other changes before the display stopped working?

well i think this is you're best option but i'ld take everything out to see if anything has gone in wrong or fallen out

[QUOTE="markop2003"]wipe the CMOS? could try it if nothing else workshabitat
tried that, my monitor still goes into power saving mode.
That points to the video card. At the very least pull the card and reseat it then check the power cables going to it if it requires it.
This probably won't work, but I have been where you are and I was willing to try ANYTHING. Try hooking your monitor to the other DVI/VGA port on you GPU.
And just for the hell of it, what are the specs?
I had a slightly similar problem with one of my builds where it was shorting out. But mine would cut on for a split second, fans and all, and then turn back off. I took everything out and set it up on a phone book, and it started right up. I got a new case and all was fine.
I don't really think your problem is shorting out, but you could always try it to bee sure.
Double check your front panel headers (Power switch, power LED, that stuff). My buddie built a computer once and hooked them all wrong and somehow it would start just fine, but he had to use the switch on the PSU to turn it off.
That might be the problem with turning it off, but I doubt with the rest of your problems. Do you have another GPU you can test and see if it works?
naw...i dont have another :( god damnit. im pretty sure all the connections are right...how do i tell witch end of the power button connector is positive or negative? habitat
I'm surprised nobody has asked this yet..you did apply heat dope to your CPU, right? Because if its getting too hot that could explain why the screen isn't showing up like it should.
As for the power connector I'm not certain but your Motherboard book should explain where to put it and if it doesn't work one way turn it around.

it came with thermal paste on it...should i try applying more and go out and buy some? some of it may have came off when i took the heatsink off but i dont think enough came off to case any real trouble.
i called tech support and they said i need 20 amps on the 12v rail to run effectively...mines 18 amps...do you really think thats a problem? someone todl me to get this corsair 520 watt over something else because it was more powerful than some 600 watts.habitatno your powersupply has like 40 amps theres 18 on each rail you have way more than enough amps
it could be your mobo that's the only thing i can think off.
Have you already tried to hook up your mouse and keyboard in the front panel?
see if that works.
alright i just did frankenstein build and the same thing happens. intitally i hav eto hit hte power buttons a couple of times in order for it to start working. also no power to the back ports (my mouse wont light up etc). is the motherboard dead? should i rma it? what do you think? i am so pissed right now.habitat
Hitting the power button a couple of time to get it to start booting could mean the PSU is defective, that could be the reason why you aren't getting USB lighting. It could also be a defective MB. You could test the PSU if you have a multimeter or if you have a halfway decent computer store nearby they sell PSU testers for under $15.
