Hey,

i am new to building computers this will my first one, i have done some research and have come to these parts my cash limit i would rather be £600 but this pushes it to around £667

i need a os , i have windows vista 32 bit in list atm don't mind if its 32-64 bit but atm this copy is costing £82.19

i live in the uk, i wont this computer to "furture proof" with upgrades possible.

i wont a quad core because i do a bit of website building ect and need a few programs open , will be used to gaming as well. i know 600£ aint much for a gaming computer but all i can really spend.

thanks for any help Rob

all parts are from novatect or ebuyer

It looks good and it should all work, but I'd recommend getting a cheaper (and less played out and overrated) case and double the RAM.

It's a very similar build to what I just bought last week, so yes it's good :)

I'd recommend doubling up on the RAM - the sticks your are getting are only £30 so another pair will be great (though 2 x 2GB sticks would leave the potential for further upgrading in the future, whereas 4 x 1GB sticks will fill the motherboard).

I chose Vista 64-bit, and with only essential software installed for everyday use 1.2GB of memory is in use while idle. 2GB just wouldn't leave much room for gaming.

Only get that CPU if your going to overclock,,,otherwise get a E8400 because it will perform a lot better in games at stock speeds. apart from that iam liking your build.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811146047 (can compair with the Antec 900)

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811146025 (I have this case..Love it ! )

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811144197

Case without side windows......

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811112184 (this case looks like very high quality, though not flashy)

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119137 (I bought this case to rebuild a friends PC...it's very well built and looks great)

You can get the Antec 300 and get a better videocard. What program do you use to design website? If it's Dreamweaver, I don't think it'll support more than 2 cores. I'm not sure about FrontPage as I haven't used that for ages. But generally, even a single core is fast enough for general web-designing with all those image editing programs opened. :_). BTW I haven't seen any benefits with my Quadcore compared to my Dell Pentium 4 in these task yet, besides opening speed. Heh!

Yeah, you can just go into the BIOS and set the FSB to 333 and there you go, you now have a 3Ghz Q6600 :)
