How u guys doing, im trying to build a decent PC under $700. This is my first time.

I did some research and selected required hardwares at neweggs.

i was just wondering this is a OK setup, I don't even know if they are gonna work together....

Sony NEC Optiarc 18X DVD±R DVD Burner With 12X DVD-RAM Write Black E-IDE / ATAPI Model 7170A-0B - OEM

Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 ST3160215A 160GB 7200 RPM IDE Ultra ATA100 Hard Drive - OEM

GIGABYTE GA-M55SLI-S4 Socket AM2 NVIDIA nForce4 SLI ATX AMD Motherboard - Retail

XFX PVT84JUDF3 GeForce 8600GT 256MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 Video Card - Retail

CORSAIR ValueSelect 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 533 (PC2 4200) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model VS2GBKIT533D2 - Retail

AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+(65W) Windsor 2.4GHz Socket AM2 Processor Model ADO4600CUBOX - Retail

I basically selected from TOP SELLER Items and read the reviews. I still don't get what makes it a better motherboard,

and im not sure if i should go with intel or AMD. I heard AMD is the best for 'price to perfomance ratio'.

please help and give me some advice thanks!!!

Seems like you aren't overclocking, so the X2 4600+ is fine.

I'd stick with the 8600GT, but get the cheaper overclocked MSI 8600GT. :)

Much better Corsair XMS2 DDR2 675 RAM, for the same price if you factor in shipping. :)

You'll want an SATA (thinner cables, allowing for better airflow, plus it's the standard nowadays) hard drive.

That Gigabyte motherboard is pretty good, I'd go with that over the Asus with onboard video.

What case and power supply are you getting?

Forcing a component (CPU, GPU, RAM) of the PC to run at a faster speed than it was designed for.

That's one good rig there, but yes, upgrade graphics to 8800 GTS.

You got two motherboards listed there, so I would choose the Gigabyte one.

If you can wait, hold off till July for the drop of Intel Quad Core CPUs
