I'd recommend Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic if you're into Dungeons and Dragons style RPGs, Deus Ex if you like BioShock style FPS/RPG hybrids, The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind if you like free roaming RPGs. Diablo II if you like dungeon crawling.
would you not recommend 5 more than 3 for might and magic? I've actually never played that before and have no idea how thats played. Though i think i might like it. kloair23HoMM 3 is still the best in the series. HoMM 5 was ok and a definate attempt to recreate everything that was great about the 3th game but Nival got sloppy. I think most fans agree that 3 is still the best in the series.

Though i think i might like it. kloair23For me V is the best (Tribes of the East), but it's better when you're maxing it up and it needs quite some power :P, HoMM 3 on the other hand is of better quality and more complex but I was never a fan of the atmosphere it creates, HoMM 4 was better for me even tho it's quite a lot worse than 3 and 5.
Try the demo see how it works (I believe 3 also has a demo), V keeps you entertained because of the atmosphere, 3 because of the complexity, so it depends on what pleases you most out of these two aspects, because one of them needs to distract you from the flight :P.
If you get 3 be sure to get some collection, because all the expansions add to it, same with 5 but one of those might cost as much as all the HoMM 3 games, if you're looking for a cheap distraction then just get Tribes of the East since it's the best 5, but if there's a cheap collection on some website then all of them are great in their own way.
that is actually awesome.... fligh the flight you are taking in real time... see how boring it is for pilots.Flight Simulator

Do you have enough batteries to play games for 16 hours or does the plane offer power outlets to plug into (these are few and far between and vary by airlines and planes)? If so, get a game in the genre you like.
One could play Silent Hunter III on a flight and not run out of missions to play in Career Mode.

So um yea, no. because sitting and doing nothing for 16 hours is not the fun part of being a pilot? you honestly think they dont get bored during long flights? all they do is check instruments every so often and thats really it....Flight Simulator

Michael Crichton novel? Haha, jk.
Maybe try some freeware RPG games like some of the stuff made by RPGmaker people. There are actually some pretty fun games out there.
Others have covered all the good stuff. Anything pre-2000 should run fine and be a lot of fun, so try out some of the c|assics you missed.
BTW doesn't minecraft need to call the server to play? I don't think you could do that then.

Only the very first time you start it up on that computer. Needs to verify the user ID at least once and then it will give you the option for offline survival mode if it cannot find the login server.

Hell yes. In 16 hours you could easily build a plane in the middile of the air, fill it up with tnt and then watch it explode for the lulz.
ive got a good 17 hour flight coming up soon, so im in the same dilemma as well. Ive currently got Starcraft 2, Torchlight, Plant vs Zombies and Machinarium installed on my Mac Book Pro. Could anyone suggest any games that are mac compatible?

If I had a 16 hours flight I'd go and play with my iPhone, watch movies on the laptop and having a good nap while listening to my favorite music :) BUT, if you need some good game suggestions on how to enjoy the flight - I'd pick up any good multiplayer FPS such as TF2, CS Source, Modern Warfare 2 and the new NFS Hot Pursuit as well.PredatorRules
lolwut...OP is gunna be on a god damned plane, Sherlock.

I played for 5 hours once and didn't even win once. Eventually I got so pissed that I broke my keyboard in half, got drunk, and fell asleep on top of my kitchen counter.
Diazepam.
Seriously though:
- Plants Vs. Zombies
- Torchlight
- Trine
- Puzzle Dimension
- Puzzle Quest
- Monkey Island series
You might also want to keep in mind that your laptop battery isn't going to last 16 hours, so you'll probably want to bring a book or two as well.
Also, you may want to avoid playing any game with guns or a lot of violence in it. People nowadays tend to be paranoid, subservient idiots, and you might actually get thrown off the flight for being a suspected threat. (I'm not kidding.)
