I don't have a pc but I want to build one. I'll begin with budget parts and upgrade to more expensive parts once I have the money later. Trinity just came out so I thought it would be a smart way to go. But from what I gather, there won't be any worthwhile upgrades from the trinity line in the near future. And from what I read online the A10 falls roughly 20-30fps behind an i5 CPU in most cases. That only leaves the ominous Kaveri due out in 2013 but who knows if that will be much better. So my question is, will Kaveri be compatible with the FM2 socket if I end up upgrading the trinity cpu?
suetracy
if you were to get an a10 or a8 series trinity apu in reality there is nothing you cant max out. especially once you consider resolutions.you see tc as the resolution goes up the cpu stress in games goes down.
if we take the above statement and bring it to the real world we see that the a10 actually does basiclly the same job as the 3930x for example @ resolutions above 1680 x 1200. which is why no cpu game benchmark is done at anything above 1080p as once you hit the 1080p wall the difference is more liek 3-5fps in 90% of games and the other 10% consists of rts's and mmo's where the fps difference is so radical yes but the fps count for any of the cpu's you can test is obscenely high as neither genre is particularly hardware demanding (at least right now anyway).
so.. as a rule of thumb here is how i would play it out:
~$100 to spend on the cpu: get a phenom II x4 or x6
~$140 to spend on the cpu: get an a1-5800k or phenom II x6 (1090t or 1100t)
~$200 to spend on the cpu: get a core i5 2310
anything above this is atm all intel turf (for now, we cant predict the future after all)
and if your curious about what other genres could theoretically all be ran on.. atm it sits at the core 2 quad q8500 or athlon II x4 640 or better (in short, dirt fing cheap)
anyone who tells you different.. can take an fing hike cause its 2013 soon and its downright sad if their still gaming on a 2 core cpu like a chump.

so in reality.. tc your right.. but only until the resolution standards move up to 1080p as the norm.
