I started thinking about all the game mechanics that we have these days that have become such an integrated part of gaming.

Stuff like checkpoint systems or leaderboards.

It made me think about, what game mechanics would I really like to have actually work in real life (cause I'm a bit weird like that).

This prompted me to make a post on my blog, where I picked out 5 game mechanics that I'd like to actually be able to use:

5 Video Game Mechanics That I'd Like In Real Life

Any other ideas for video game functionality that would be handy to have in real life and why?

Would love to hear other crazy ideas :)

You only need one game mechanic for real life: CHEATS

This and some kind of hints or highlights for the objects you're looking for and can't find :P, unless you have "give item" cheats, then it would all be included in the simple "cheats".

I want an IRL console where I can change the settings of the world and use cheats. sv_gravity 1 would be a nice party trick.

Ah yes, a console to type in commands would be cool.

Also -noclip would be good for those times when you've forgotten your house keys
