http://www.pcgameshardware.com/aid,706783/Splinter-Cell-Conviction-exclusive-interview-PC-version-is-a-console-port-with-extra-quality-features/News/

Well, the bad news is that its a straight console port and they even admitted this but they also say that spend time making sure controls are tailored for the PC and that there you can play around with the graphics options but they'll probably be limited to be honest.

In any case, if you're not buying the game due to DRM, please don't reply, I've already heard enough from the other threads (including my own) so only those who are definitely getting the game! =D If you're still undecided, perhaps this info might help you out.

I doubt it can be a worse port than Double Agent. I'll still get it since i'm a fan of the series, but i'm not exactly impressed with how Ubisoft is treating us PC gamers.

Don't get the game! You are supporting Ubisoft to continue their charade. It's a 60$ unoptimized console port, what's worst you don't even own the game and you can't play it whenever you will. Oh and it's not the Splinter Cell you know and love.

I'm just going to leave Ubisoft to their console market which they obviously love so much. And just pretend they don't exist on PC any more.

I hope they'll port it to PS3. I won't get it for PC now that i know it's a cheap ported. Maybe getting 360 for this game might be a good choice.

Hmm, it doesn't sound too bad to me:

"The PC version will output a greater resolution (up to 2560x1440 on the latest graphics hardware) at 60FPS. Shadow resolution is also greater on PC and we support 16X Anti-Aliasing as well as Anisotropic Filtering. Physic effects are the same that on the Xbox 360 version."

So, better shadow resolution and an ability to crank up the anisitropy and the anit-aliasing, and also run at 60FPS. That's exactly why I love PC gaming.

Anyone else think this game looks like garbage? I mean take a look at that guy whos shootin down below .... something about his wrist.. i cant pin point it but it looks very ... peculiar. Besidse teh fact that it has to be the most bland looking game ... something right out of 2004

I cant see that picture, not only is it massive, but it says no deeplinking and isnt showing anything SC related =P but i any case, did you see the E3 coverage of the game? if you did and youve seen the single player gameplay it actually looks rather interesting, so I dont know what you are talking about 'bland'

The game plays it's self...strong fail. Kill one person with your hands then highlight all the targets that you want the game to auto-kill. The levels are designed around this 'mark and execute' feature. Splinter Cell series is dead.

Yes, a demo is required. Then we can all judge for ourselves.

I'm a big fan of the Splinter Cell games, but I must admit I'm hesitant to pick up this iteration of the franchise. Hearing that it's a port of the 360 version is also rather disheartening...

I have the game preordered on NewEgg just so I could lock in the $46.99 and free shipping deal they had since the game is supposed to sell for $59.99, but I'm really torn right now on whether or not I want to have the game. I was really hoping for a demo to be released, but we got shot down in that regard...

Usually I will wait to get a game after I can see some reviews and gameplay footage for myself, but I'd really like to save the money on it by having it preordered if I can. Decisions, decisions...

I don't plan on getting it at all anymore, due to what I've heard about the game's stealth. It seems that Splinter Cell is an action game trying to pose as a stealth game, instead of being an actual stealth game.

Not getting the game is a good call, especially if you want the stealth mechanics from the previous SC games. There are playtroughs of the demo on YouTube, and I am not impressed from what I've seen. Not a trace of the good old Sam Fisher. Not to say that the game is bad though, but i didn't want another bland TPS.

If you're not buying due to DRM, don't bother to reply because there are a million threads about those. In any case, those screenshots look like its taken at the LOWEST settings (you can tell from the file name). I hope that's not what the REAL game looks like.

yes because we all know change is a terrible thing. Damn those devs and their attempts to quell piracy and innovate in their releases instead of putting out clones!

Double Agent was already a pretty big departure from the other games, and i am aware a lot of changes have been made for this game. I am a bit worried about the console part side of things, but they can be well done, just more often than not they aren't.

The DRM irks me a bit, but i want to play the game and i'm not going to pirate it. Ubisoft is well aware that most people hate their new DRM, and if they havent changed it by now i doubt whining will change anything, especially since it hasn't been properly cracked yet, which is a pretty big success for the industry.

So it will be a console port and it will have that drm. Also no demo. What the? Are they intentionaly try to kill the pc version sales? Anyway all bad, all bad. But i will buy the game eventually when it gets cheap. I hate that kinda drm but i have no choice since there is no ps3 version.

This game looks amazing. IS what I said when the original trailer was shown. Since then, each following trailer has looked progressively worse, both gameplay and graphically (REALLY, go watch the original gameplay footage from MS's E3 conference, and then compare each trailer since's graphics. The last trailer in particular looks UGLY, like REALLY ugly.)

Don't worry though they will remove leaning.

And I have played the demo (on 360). The game is definitally built for the ability to be played faster paced, but doesn't have to be played that way. It is just like Assassin's Creed (only played #1) in the fact that you can make the game as monotonous and repetitive as you want. In AC you could either counter every attack or play the game differently (and make it fun) and just like this you can either take down a guy and then auto kill people or actually play it to have fun.

That was for the person that said this game auto plays for you. It only auto plays if you want it to.

After playing the 360 demo 2 times, I do NOT want this game any more.

It no longer has stealth as the main gameplay element, they have shifted SC:C too much towards actiony Gears of War type gameplay.

While I agree that Splinter Cell is dead, you don't need to use Mark and Execute.

It's somewhat fun going through without it, but this game seriously disappointed me. From all the gameplay videos it seemed like I was finally going to get my Jason Bourne-esque video game, but when I actually played the game I was so disappointed I'm not even sure if I should acknowledge Ubisoft as a company anymore.

I knew it would be bad when they included the Ghost Recon beta (or is that just for the 360 version?). There's only two instances where a beta is included with the game. One, either the game is average or worse so they try to get more sales (Crackdown for the 360) or they just want to boost sales because they know people most likely wouldn't buy it (Halo 3: ODST)

The interview says the only thing the PC version has going for it are better shadows, AA and AF. While i admit that it's better than most console ports, it doesn't support DX10, or DX11. It's clear that they didn't spent much time into the PC version. Even if they did it's still a console port and no way in hell am i paying 60$ for it.

gears of war? seriously? i havent played the demo but if this is anywhere near true then i wont be buying anymore games from ubisoft. sc is/was one of my favourite games series, despite the pretty poor double agent game.

why would they change the game style so drastically? im all for games evolving with each installment but to lose the very essence of what made the series so popular (i.e. stealth) in favour of all out action just seems bizarre

Some don't mind the more actiony go from cover to cover type gameplay this game has switched to. To me it is no longer a Splinter Cell game, its faster paced and simplified.
