Evening guys,

Can anyone recommend a "good FPS game" as far as the single player is concerned(PvP would be a plus though)? Aside from the COD series, MoH, etc.... Preferably one that that is set around WW2 (but doesn't have to be, just giving a point of reference). I'm getting a bit tired of the PvP, campaign's, etc..of the games mentioned above.

Thanks!

Wolfenstein. It has Nazis, monsters, science-fiction weapons and plenty of gore.

Oh, something I forgot to ask. How is the Battlefield campaign/on-line community?

Thanks again!

EDIT: Asked same question twice

Battlefield has always been a mp focused game only the recent bad company 2 has an actual sp campaign the past games where just matches against bots and for me the sp was so lackluster in bc2 I never got past the second or third mission but put in over 100+ hours into the mp which is some of the best out there.

the WW2 restriction makes it hard to recommend anything else. BC2 single player is pretty weak if you ask me. Other BF games don't have single player. BioShock series are solid shooters and good steps away from what you might be tired of. Call of Juarez is something a little bit different, western flavoured. Painkiller games are enjoyable action games. Metro 2033 or Singularity are decent new FPS games although both fairly short.

Great input! Just to clarify I don't really have WW2 restriction time-frame, although I do like the weapons from that era. In all honesty though I'm just tired of COD:MW kind of games but I stillwould likea FPS in which the solo part doesn't suck and is more than 3-4 hours long. My favorite style of game is RPG/RTS but I'm burnt out so to speak and just want to play a game with a decent back-drop and can just shoot some NPC's/people ;)

You might want to check out Red Orchestra 1 as it's pretty much what you described. Also Red Orchestra 2: heroes of stalingrad, is WW2 based and has some interesting design decisions. It more a realistic shooter though, it's not arcady like COD it's more like ARMA. It is set to release soon for under $50 and is being developed by Tripwire, so it isn't a lackluster console port, did I mention 2 full single player campiagns and up to 64 player multiplayer? Yep it's going to be epic, I'd recommend watching videos before you dismiss it :)
