Forget the story, graphics and all that jazz. Which game has the best gunplay (and isn't a straight up crappy game, either)
I'll start with one I always hear, F.E.A.R. 1

Hmm, I've always felt the guns in BLACK felt really good to fire; I'm actually looking forward to Bodycount quite a lot for that reason :D. The G36C as rendered by Criterion is a weapon I wish were more common in FPS titles.
Timesplitters: Future Perfect is pretty good too. And it's not an FPS, but Freedom Fighters has some really brutal-feeling weapons :D
this statement right here is also exactly how i feel. the g36 series is far too uncommon.Hmm, I've always felt the guns in BLACK felt really good to fire; I'm actually looking forward to Bodycount quite a lot for that reason :D. How is Crysis realistic? It has no headshots and sometimes you'll need to unload your whole clip into a simple Korean soldier in order to kill him.Crysis for most realistic and Solider of Fortune 2 for the weapon choice and fun.

My vote goes to Counter-Strike: Source.

No headshots in Crysis? BS! I got like 500 of them in the campaign, so I don't know what you're talking about(I replayed the game a dozen times).
STALKER series by far, especially Call of Pripyat with its upgrading system. The only game that comes close imo is FEAR. I have a save filefrom justbefore I encounter a sole enemy who is facing in the opposite direction. I reloaded it like 15 times to kill him in the most spectacular ways. The Conduit gets a mention for its satisfactory gunplay with the pistol, the shotgun and the SCAR.
Stalker has the best gunplay hands down. Its so rewarding to do 150m headshot with scopeless ak74 :)
Lately I would have to say DoD: Source. The strong recoil and general feel of the weapons feel very authentic to me. This, however, is personal taste. FEAR deserves a definite mention.
FEAR 1, STALKER, CoD1, UO, CoD2, No One Lives Forever for me. Also, a tie between Far Cry 1 & Crysis.
Anyway, Half-Life 2 maybe? :P

The original FEAR. The rule is in shooters the guns have to feel powerful and be loud.
As for Crysis, one shot to the head will kill a Korean. The reason shots to the chest dont kill is theyre wearing body armour from 10 years in the future.
One thing about Crysis I didn't like is that if you throw the Ai off a cliff and he wasn't killed by the throw. He'll take no damage in Ragdoll mode. I wanted to be real evil and throw someone off a huge cliff. So I throw him, zoom in on his ragdolling body and start laughing evily. He then stands up from like a 5 story fall and starts walking into a wall infinitely...
