~ Hi people!!!

I play Call of Duty 4 with excellent performance in my pc....

this my PC characteristics.....

-Intel Quad Core Q6600 (not overclocked) 2.4 Ghz 8 Mb's of Cache memory

-nVidia GeForce 8600 GT 256 MB's DDR3

-3 Gb's of DDR2 533 Mhz

-RealTek High Definition Sound Board

-Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium

-Directx 10 Compatible

-Razer Lachesis xD

-Asus LCD Monitor VW222S

And I have Crysis roling in 800x600 resolution with much few Frames per second and in 1440 resolution (the resolution I use in call of duty 4 ) it does not leave me to play... it looks my PC is a junk for some games and an EXTREME MACHINE to others.....

I play Call of duty 4 with 1440 resolution and there is no breaks in the game....

If my english is wrong.... sorry for that... i'm portuguese LoL..

thanks people...

Well Crysis is a much more demanding game than Call of Duty. Your video card is fairly weak, especially for Crysis.

Different game engines are more demanding than others. Crysis is THE MOST demanding game on the market right now. If you got a q6600 than you should atleast gotten an 8800gt...

The reason for the extreem difference is because the game engines utilise different effects, some games use higher detail shaders than others. Crysis for example uses fairly high detail shaders and then there are TONS of polys to draw for each peice of foliage.

It's mostly due to the sheer amount of things being drawn. COD4 doesn't have as much foliage as Crysis (I know there are areas of COD4 where there are a lot of trees and such but you'll notice that it isn't as much or as detailed, still does the job thought).

For instance, in COD4, there is a lot of the game that is in urban areas with little foliage, mostly brick walls and dust. Whereas in Crysis the whole game takes place surrounded in foliage. Well there is far more work to be done to draw trees than a brick wall. Since at the very least you need two textures to draw a single part of foliage, a Diffuse map and a Transparicy map, thats just for one small part of a tree. I believe Crysis uses far more than just two elements though, I might be wrong but I think there is also a Specular map and a Pixel Shader to calcualte the right highlights on the leaves.

So, there is more work to be done drawing ONE tree than a brick wall, which is what COD4 is mostly made of. Is it any wonder that COD4 runs better than Crysis? No, it really isn't.

Have fun

Simple one would be to buy a new graphics card. ;)
