I just got TF2 and I'm having alot of trouble playing because of the Paged Pool memory is low because of AVG which is the anti virus program I use, and it says you can only resolve this problem if you completely uninstall AVG.

So I plan to do so because I really want to play this game and So I was wondering what people use for their anti virus program other than AVG ?

AVG sucks, so you're smart if you choose something else. Avast isn't that good, but it's better than AVG for sure. NOD32 is the best I know of, but it costs money.

I use Avast. I've actually paid for F-Secure, but it doesn't work on 64-bit Vista, so I only use it on my other PC.

In fact, there are PLENTY of free anti-virus programmes out there. Namely: Adaware, spybot, spydoctor, AVG, Avast, spyware blaster, and those mentioned above... However, if you're looking for just ONE programme, I would strongly recommend either Avast or AVG.

Edit: Oh yes, you might want to consider upgrading since you experience preformance issues...It'll benefit you in the long run =] just my 2 cents

Those are spyware programs, not anti-virus applications.

Avast, it's a really good antivirus tool. I just set it on high and I never have any issues. They constantly update the virus database as well.

NOD32 protects from spyware as well.

Firewall? I use the firewall that comes with Windows.

The windows firewall is garbage, Zone Alarm or Outpost are the best but cost money.

A good and free firewall is Comodo:http://www.comodo.com/

I been using AVG for over 5 years. I've never had a virus (I use outlook express daily) & never had any problems with any games. I doubt you have to uninstall the AVG. More likely disable it while playing. Also, there are some unnecesary background services used bay AVG. It's worth disabling them using msconfig.exe (startup).

Also, why not ask AVG at www.grisoft.com ?

You will have to pay for bitdefender, I am using it now and it slows down my PC although its pretty good. If you want a free antivirus then you should go for Avast. Its marginally better then AVG. If you are going for a paid antivirus try Kespersky. Its the best antivirus out there. If you want to know more about antiviruses go to www.pcworld.com and take a look around.

Those on a Comcast broadband connection can also get the full Mcafee suite free as a Comcast subscriber. Not sure how Mcafee stacks up against the other brands, but free is good

You don't need anything more than the windows firewall especially if you already have a router. The software firewall is just useless clutter that does not protect you from anything.

Software firewalls is a long debated topic. Some people think you need them and others think you don't. The windows firewall is basic but it's all you really need plus routers already have built in firewall protection.

I think this thread is on the wrong board.

I run AVG, adaware, ccleaner my windows firewall and router and have never had one problem with viruses or anything. I guess you shouldnt mess with sometthing if it's working. :)
