The time has come...
Does this mean HL2 will finally see the engine and achievement update as well? If they do update it, I hope they release the update simultaneously! If it's Mac only... :x
Hm I would say that ripoff ad of Apple's "1984" is a tad bit "cheeky" of Valve and could be misconstrued by some people as a dig at the PC. I don't have a problem with Valve bringing their products to the Apple Mac myself, I have always believed people should be able to play games on the platform of their choice.
The only thing that annoys me about all this with Valve is they seem to be neglecting their PC userbase especially when it comes to Half Life 2. When the original Orange Box was released on the PC, 360 and PS3 the console versions got an updated version of Half Life 2 the PC didn't. Now with the Mac getting Half Life 2 (I have no problem with that) I can imagine it will get the updated version too. Meanwhile PC gamers were promised that their version of Half Life 2 would be brought into line with the others and 3 odd years later we are still waiting.
I don't know what to make of Valve these days part of me wants to carry on waving my Valve pom poms but another part of me is becoming increasingly concerned that Valve is reaching out to new markets and in return neglecting the PC userbase. Anyway aside from all that I hope the Mac guys enjoy Halflife 2 on their preferred format.
Bunch of Judases.
The notion that Valve is neglecting their fanbase is just absurd. In just the past three years, we've gotten Portal, two Left 4 Dead titles, a continued flow of massive updates to Team Fortress 2, a recent major update to Counter-Strike: Source, more updates to the already-awesome Source engine, and the further evolution of the Steam platform. They haven't released Episode Three yet: So what? Blizzard took time away from Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3 to make World of Warcraft. Did anybody really mind that? No. Everybody just put your tinfoils hats back in the closet already, things are fine.
I didn't say Episode 3 I said an UPDATED version of Half Life 2 to bring it INTO LINE with the console version. I personally didn't care for the Left 4 Dead series of games, nor do I care for Team Fortress 2 or CSS (I really am not into MP gaming). However I do care about Half Life 2 and I think it is pretty crappy that three years on we are still waiting for Valve to bring the PC version of Half life 2 into line with the console version and no doubt the Mac version when it comes out.
Now I don't begrudge Mac users getting Half Life 2 in fact I think it is great, but I think it is a shame that valve couldn't have devoted some resources to bringing the PC version of Half Life 2 up to the same standards as the console and Mac version. Now if you are fine with that then great but I am not.
wait.... wut..... how is the PC version of HL2 worse than the console version?I didn't say Episode 3 I said an UPDATED version of Half Life 2 to bring it INTO LINE with the console version.
wait.... wut..... how is the PC version of HL2 worse than the console version? The console version is running on a more up-to-date Source engine, so it has slightly more advanced graphical options. Also it has achievements, where the PC version doesn't despite both of the Episodes having achievements on the PC version.I didn't say Episode 3 I said an UPDATED version of Half Life 2 to bring it INTO LINE with the console version. There is no need to wait for valve to update HL2 to console levels. The Cinematic Mod made by fakefactory updates the graphics to surpass 99% of games out today.
