I had some fun with Runes of Magic a little while back. It is a pretty decent game, especially for being free.
I played KalOnline for quite a while and its a good game but the CS support is laughable. Been playing Runes of Magic lately, its a good Wow clone and its free, really a game that could be subscription based but its not. The quality of the game alone can be compared to subscription based games.
Runescape was pretty good for me till I got sick of it, Maple Story just....ugh, I played that adventure quest worlds that was okayish. Then There is Secret of the Solstice. That was fun but everything cost money after a certain level.
Runes of magic i wouldent really consider it "free" because its a heavy Cash shop game. Once you get to lvls 30+ you wouldent stand a chance againts some one whos a heavily modded Cash shop player and most of them are.
A few years back I barely played anything else than free MMORPGS. The ones that got me hooked for a longer time were
KAL Online - Had pretty nice graphics compared to the rest free MMORPGs at that time, and for some reason I liked the gameplay. But as a poster above me said, the company running the game is utterly bad at handling things.
Silkroad Online - Sweet looking game (again - that's compared to other free MMORPGs, especially many years back) and addictive gameplay, but completely ruined by lagging servers and botting.
MU Online - Think I got hooked with this one since it was similiar to a Diablo MMO. I think the game is pay to play nowadays though which is insane if you ask me.
Cabal Online - Was pay to play to begin with but became free and that was when I picked it up. Flashy game but ended up causing so much trouble every update etc to get it working properly again so I quit.
Knight Online - Think it was the first free MMORPG I played for a longer time, I remember it was among the most popular free games out there back then. No idea what's up with it nowadays though.
