Freeware Oldies

Well I was born in the mid 90's and didnt rly get into pc gaming untiil....what 2009?
So ive been wondering are there any older games that have been freely released by the developers, im thining something like Diablo 2 or Gothic, something relatively new, but not that new, like 1995-2005?

While it isn't exactly free, gog.com has a huge library of older games for around $5 each. Some are a bit more, sometimes you'll find some for less. I found one of my all time favorites series there (Freespace I & II).

C&C and C&C RA are both Freeware now. I Not sure about Tiberian Sun though.

The earlier command and conquer games, for sure. C&C1, Red Alert 1, Tiberian Sun, Red Alert 2... all amazing games. I was also rather fond of TIE Fighter, but I don't think that's playable anymore.
