i just recently bought a new computer, an HP m7780n. mainly i bought this computer because i got a good deal on it, but i was wondering if this is good enough to play some of the latest pc games like BF2142 or WOW without running into problems, i guess. i have a 14-day satisfaction guarntee and i've only had it for two days. i read some reviews on it but no one really said anything about gaming, except for the graphics card, someone said that it limits you on what graphics cards you can upgrade to, if i wanted/or had to upgrade it, it would be limited by the PSU(?). can anyone help me out with this? is this a good pc for gaming or should i return it and keep looking around for a better pc?

oh and i paid about $1500/w a 19" widescreen monitor.

Depends on your graphics cards really. Also helps to have at least 1G of RAM. I'm betting you got a Windows Vista OS computer? If so most of them in the 1k-$1500 price zone got 2G ram and a pretty nice video card. Post what graphics card you got and RAM chances are tho u can play most games out already.

Looking up the specs Processor Intel Viiv Technology with an Intel Core 2 Duo Processor E6400; 2.13GHz Operating system Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium Memory 2048GB PC2-4200 DDR2 SDRAM memory Graphics card NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GT with 256MB video memory, TV out and Dual DVI-I Capabilities Hard drive 500GB 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive Look like a pretty good gaming machine, the 7600gt is a decent card and it will run WoW and BF2142 just fine. Core 2 Duo will help too. Can't find out the PSU but it's probably a generic ~400watt one which can mean trouble in some cases. You should be able to upgrade later but graphics cards are going to use more juice so you might have to just pop in another psu from antec.

not really that hard, just a few screws, unplug all the power connectors and ensure the new one plugs into all the old places. Depends on how confident you are I guess.

Nah 2G is fine 4G is going a bit overboard. Ya pretty much your computer is good for gaming. Should last u a long time and helps it HP because they make really good PCs. If anything save up for a new graphics card later on in the year when the new video games come out that need DX10 video cards.

thats a very nice computer, also similiar to mine.  7600GT will run BF2142 at 1280x1024 with high settings beautifully.  Smart move getting the 2GB of memory as well...also, that rig sounds future proof; it should be fine for another year, then get a Dx10 card...after that, overclock the processor in a few years.  Yup, with a little upkeep that rig will last you 4+ years!

Have fun!
