Iirc you can use the mouse as the stick / yolk (whatever its called) but I've never found that to be particularly good with flight sims :(
You can of course also use the keyboard.

I believe I read that FSX is the first in the series to req a joystick, but I could be wrong. My memory these days....YourOldFriend
that would make sense...i downloaded the FSX demo and could NOT control my plane whatsoever once in the air...gg microsoft
