FSX has to be one of the best Flight Sims I've ever played!

I picked it up last month at my local Best Buy for only $49.00 for the Gold Edition which includes the full featured game plus the "Accelerator" expansion pack (which retails for $19.00 alone).

Last night I flew an IFR flight in Seattle for a landing at Victoria International Airport in conditions of less than 1/4 mile visibility. IT was intense as I could just barely make out the runway at touchdown. I flew a GPS ILS approach on autopilot (utilizing the Garmin GPS 500) and let the a/c descend on it's own after picking up the Transponder glidescope signal. Then I manually flew it in the last couple of hundred feet. What a sense of accomplishment!!!!

Anyway, I'm impressed at the fact that the game ships with over 26,000 real world airports modeled with accurate runways/headings and even the building structures and it's a hoot to fly from any airport in the world to any other airport in the world with accurate terrain modeled and the beautiful scenery below.

Finding your way through the various forms of navigation is very rewarding when your out over the middle of the ocean and you find that tiny airstrip on tat tiny island in the middle of nowhere when you had nothing but big blue ocean in front of you the whole way!

Having to use your instruments when totally lost in a cloud and don't know which way is up is thrilling, especially when you come out the other side and realize you were successful.... You also have the option of utilizing real world weather that gets updated via the internet every 15mins while playing. So if you fly from your home airport the weather will match exactly what's outside your window then if it's raining at the destination airport you will enter that weather front and land in rain/clouds.

The included missions are fantastic... like the SAR and area 51 missions and you can play the game online with an instructor or with real people playing the part of the ATC's.

I've seen that there are actually multiplayer "Virtual" Airlines where you can sign up for an airline and fly weekly routs on a real world schedule...how cool!

The graphics are the best I've ever seen in a Flight Sim even though my 7 yr-old system runs it at low-med-low settings.

Anyway, now that Microsoft has ended their Flight Sim series this game is a great buy and a must have for anyone remotely interesed in flying, especially before the boxed game ceases being sold retail.

I'm really having a great time with this one and it's been a nice welcome break from the usual RTS/FPS games of late.

man i have had this game in my hand like 3 times but i could never pull the trigger and pick it up. What controler are you guys using? Do i need to spend $100 on the nice satek one or will a $20 contorler and keyboard be enough? I just cant decide if i would like this or it would if it would get boring really fast...Right now i use Realflight G3.5 for my sim but that is for RC type aircraft. It is fun but not to the level i think FSX would be.

I got lucky and inherited my brother's spiffing Sidewinder Force Feedback 2 joystick, which makes everything feel oh so realistic. It's still going to be fun with whatever stick you use though.

GET FSX Deluxe plus the Accelerator combo gold pack for $49.00 you won't regret it!!!!!

I also have and use RF G3.5 and FSX is completely addicting, whereas once you learn to 3d "Hover" RF G3.5 it gets old/boring fast.

I have the Old Saitek X45 throttle and joystick combo but any $20 joystick would be fine as you can use your mouse to control the throttle in the pits or keyboard for throttle and rudder... Eventually I'm going to invest in a flightyoke and rudder pedals though.

This Sim is truley AMAZING!!!!!!

I wish I had the patience to enjoy these game in the way they are meant to be...but normally I get as far as taking off and about 5 minutes later end up crashing into things for fun.

heh, I don't really know why, but whenever I see FSX and people talking about flight simulators, I'm reminded of TFX.... and I get all mixed up.

I mean....TFX goes for about 5 bucksm I'd guess..... I bought it a very long time ago for $50, though. http://www.amazon.com/TFX-Tactical-Fighter-Experiment-pc/dp/B000AMSFA0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1234908939&sr=1-1

I'm usually the same but for some reason I'm enjoying the real world navigational aspects of this sim and have a blast flying over some of the local areas in which I've lived... It's also fun to fly in the "Real World Real Time Weather" Mode which makes for some challanging landings!!! :)

Not very high requirements, but to play with eye candy it's a real handfull. If you get it, make sure to IMMEDIATELY PATCH IT. Performance will be alot better but still it's a heavy game. Fun though.
