All of those games are fully installed on your computer. The disk is required to be in the drive regardless. It's used a an anti piracy method. It checks to see if the disc is in and then it runs the game. Try taking the disc out while you are playing, you will see that the game will keep running just fine.
I personally have a netbook, so there is no disc drive.... If this is the case, check out cloneCD and Daemon tools, works for older games, but rarely new ones. Could you add the game to steam then run it just by starting steam? Why so lazy? just put the disk in.

thanks for the replys.... I Just want to have the freedom to start up my games without the disk but since thats not going to happen easly I guess I will just keep have to use the disk. I did look it up on google and there really no information about this, I just keep getting torrent website which is the oppisite of what i'm looking for... well thanks for fast replys...
some games that originally came with a cd-check may have been given an official patch that removes such protection. examples include warcraft 3 and starcraft.Kh1ndjalAs well as The Witcher and Neverwinter Nights 2.

Which is why you are getting vague and generally unhelpful answers... Because the only way to do that is with something we aren't allowed to discuss on these forums... Don't know if you noticed the rules right at the top of this forum, but one says that there isn't to be "any discussion of methods to defeat copy-protection"... Putting the disc in your system is copy protection and you are trying to defeat it...
but i'm not doing it to torrent or steal. I doing it for myself to make my computer easier to use and more customizable if you kown what i'm saying.. I didn't know it was illegal to try to customize my computer the way i like it.
1. Yes, that's what people usually say. 2. It's not illegal to customize your computer. It is however illegal to circumvent the copy-protection on your games 3.but i'm not doing it to torrent or steal. any discussion of methods to defeat copy-protection or trading of game keys can lead to a moderation with suspension or the possibility of permanent banPC Gaming Forum RulesAnd item three on that list is why I'm now going to get as far away from you as possible, so I don't get moderated too. :P
It's illegal to move copyrighted content between mediums, technically it's illegal to rip your own CDs or put music you bought on iTunes on to your iPod.but i'm not doing it to torrent or steal. I didn't know that was the same thing as what I was trying to do. Sorry. I love how funny these laws are about iphones, and cd's where you buy them but you don't own them in the sence that you can't do what you want with them. but hey I guess that how it is and its never going to change.... Thanks for the help...
Quite a few older games allow you to play them without the CD and, as others have already said, some new games thankfully patch out annoying CD checks after the game has been released for awhile. You could also start buying digital copies which forgo discs altogether. Steam is good for that or, if you like older games, nothing beats GOG.
Thanks for the response, and I understand completely why you can't help me, I really didn't know you could post something like this so I apologize for that as well.

Thanks a lot for the suggestion, Ya I have notice the digital copies but they aren't that big yet. I wish there where more companies like steam because I really don't like how steam is set up, but that is just opinions. I can't wait for the day where there are more things like steam out there it will make my life so much better.
