Found this gtx 580 by galaxy58NLH5HS3PXZfor $415 which includes $50 rebate. It also comes with a free dd of arkham city. Anybody have any good/bad expierence with this brand? Newegg reviews for this card are kind of hit or miss... I like the fact that it has 3 fans and I believe it will fit fine in my msimsi p67a-gd65 mobo just fine. What do you guys think, should I go for it or should i just get the evga gtx 580 for $419 (no rebate involved)? I would like to do a little bit of oc'ing...

link for all interested

Its not bad I had a 7600gt never had any problems but you wont find big differences between brands, only warranty support and the sticker and cooler.

well the evga has a lifetime warranty and from what I hear, good support. The galaxy has a 3 year warranty and I have no idea how good their support is...

I have an EVGA 580 andI had to RMA it. No problem and they sent me another. They even registered the new card for warranty, so I did not have too.

I don't know when, but they're supposed to release a 580 classified sometime soon, very much not a reference cooler.

Get the one with the best deal. The GTX 580 runs pretty cool with reference cooling as long as your case has good airflow. Even with the reference cooler the the 580 will overclock pretty well. If you get the EVGA card make sure you get one with the last two digits of the model # are AR (TR is a 2 year warranty). All Nvidia GTX 500 cards bought from participating etailers are coming with Batman Arkham City. I'm sure EVGA's GTX 580 Classified will be nice for overclocking but its price tag will be a bit bigger than their other versions.

Well, I'm a student as well and currently built my first build with all parts from a manufacturer. You could always sell Arkham City for full retail price.

Can't comment on that specific card, but I have a very non-reference Galaxy 8800 GT, and it's still running strong to this day, verging on four years old. I'd give it a shot if that's the card you want.

If you are tight on money I would say go for a GTX 570 or an HD6970. Both are good cards and will give good performance. Better to buy something that will come with a manufacturer's warranty. Many of the manufacturers will not offer warranty on any component sold from ebay regardless if it is a company or some guy trying to get rid of his hardware (evga certainly doesn't).

I would be buying it from an authorized seller brand new (factory sealed). He assured me that I would be able to get the lifetime warranty. Galaxy has a 3 year warranty which im guessing would be enough for my purposes. Money is tight but its hard to pay 350-370 for a 570 when I got get a 580 for $45-$65 more. Also I really wanna max bf3 (along with everybody else in the world lol) and I know those videos were running on a single gtx 580...

Ok just did a quick search I guess a bunch of sellers are unknowingly selling there cards without a warranty even though they say it comes with one. I think im gonna be safe and go with the galaxy and try to sell the free game. Thx for the advice!

Here is the thing with EVGA. To get the lifetime warranty or even the 2 or 3 year warranties you have to register your product within 30 days of purchase. In order to RMA a product with EVGA they have to have a copy of the invoice (receipt). If that invoice isn't from one of their "Authorized" sellers then you won't have a warranty. This is pretty much how all the manufacturers work. If you want to know where to buy from most of the manufacturer's will have a list of Authorized retailers/distributors on their website.
