Stumbled across this little app, supposedly suspends any unneccesary background processes/services while you game, and does a few other tweaks to increase ingame FPS. Anyone try it out? Is it worth it, or should I pass? Could use a few frames in Cryostasis heh...

I'm gonna guess it's a scam and it's malware. If you want to suspend background processes just use ctrl+alt+del and do it yourself, you can also streamline windows with msconfig.

It's not a scam or malware and it does what it says it does. Really just automates turning off unneeded windows services, which many of us have been doing manually for years. Your mileage will vary depending on how powerful your PC is. High end PC's wont notice much difference if at all. It's a godsend for older pc's run by people with little computer experience.

its not a malware or anything ..its just a genuine software that cuts off any unnecessary programs run in the background during gameplay.it doesnt do mch and is pretty useless if u have a medium range or high range rig.

I'd say it's a scam too. : 0.8secs. to press ctrl alt del, another 14secs to shutdown unnessicery apps, so they charge you for stuff that takes less than half minute to do? If anyone would be unceartain off what the processes really do theres google and that was last time i checked all free of charge. Yes, if your paying for it it's a scam in my opinion.

It isn't a scam so to speak but its a waste of time. More to the point, if you need software like this, why are you are playing PC games?

Lol @ the people calling it scams. its from iobit, a trusted company for pc tools, and for people who dont know how to shut off programs or dont want to, it makes sense to have a program like that...

Um, on a PIII perhaps, on a old (as in 4years old) to this date PC it wont do anything. Most PC's (if they're clean from malware) idle about 1-8% usage on the CPU, knowing that the graphic card in 98% of cases is the weaker link for games getting that percentage down by a single % wont matter at all. For the ram part, if it can free up a few MB's wont matter, it's not like a game will be unplayable by the matter of a few MB's. So yes, it wont matter if your PC isn't dirt old and already to week to play the game and even then the app won't boost the perfromance so much it'll make a diffrence.

(time is money) ;) nah, if it's free it's a bit better, but it still wont do anything for the performance on a modern PC. (as in p4 or later)

I agree. Really no need for this crap unless your PC is old as all hell. Even then, you can go to the task manager. Though it seems society is too lazy to even do that these days.

Gamebooster (early versions) is actually a nice program. It just turns off services not needed when you game. The new gameboosters are LOL (uber scam with "tweak settings, at 9 dollar fee lol) Find Gamebooster 1.4 and you will enjoy. Remember, all this does is shutdown background programs running and turns off unneccesary services in one button. Nothing to special but good for what it does... (AVOID THE NEW GAMEBOOSTER).

As far as I know, Gamebooster V2 is completely free. There's no need to pay anything.

No but it likes to ask you to buy their "pro version" for 9.99. Shareware malware crap. 1.4 is much simpler in design and application without all the nonsense.

I have had 2.0 since release but after a while I get this everytime I turn it on and it returns in about 2 hrs after application is on (gamebooster moved to a pure shareware focus now). Eventually just went back to 1.4 since it gave me same behvaior in a simpler motion. Also 1.4 is ad free (no banners and crap), program is easier to understand without all the settings and tabs getting in the way. 1.4 is just a better program to me.

gamebooster now turned into shareware program and having a beautiful GUI, but the previous version is much better than the new ones, no ads are included on the old version. If using gamebooster only for boosting the game performance,it would be not enough if your pc specs doesnt't fulfill the system requirements or your pc is almost fulfilling the system requirements, but having some performance issues, try to improve more performance by using other softwares like using eBoostr which this is the alternative software for windows readyboost.
