GAME framerate problems

hey ppl..im getting some game lags not all the time but maybe for a few seconds i get verypoor framerate.games like GRID,COD 4,5,6,Bad Company 2 work really well but i get framerate issues in burnout paradise city and split second at times.Burnout runs at 35 to 50 fps and split second at stable 30fps.Split second runs very badly when at very high settings but high is fine.my configurtion is

AMD ATHLON II X2 245 3.0GHZ

ASUS M2N68-AM PLUS

2GB DDR2 RAM

1GB ATI RADEON HD4650 DDR2

500GB HDD

IT RUNS ON STOCK COOLING.

I checked out some videos on youtube and it shows these games running at max.By the way will i be able to play COD-black ops and HOT PURSUIT 2010.

Depending on what OS you're on you'll want to check for any power-saving options that might be enabled - you can do this in Windows 7 by right-clicking - personalize - click screen saver - change power settings. I always set mine to maximum performance and then adjust similar settings under the "plan options". You will also want to make sure that your control panel settings aren't forcing things like AA and vsync as those often slow things down. You can also get a program like Defraggler and let it defragment your hard drive instead of Windows. Lastly, make sure windows updates and/or your antivirus program aren't trying to run/download updates while playing.

Edit: Another thing to do is to hit the Windows key + R to bring up the run command box - type msconfig and hit enter. Under the "Boot" tab go to advanced options. Click the box that says "NUM PROC"/Number of Processors - click the drop-down - change 1 to 2 - keep it checked - click apply then OK and restart - this will force windows to use both of your CPU cores all the time.

Your weakest link is your video card (GPU). A 4650 (particularly DDR2) is pretty weak for running many games from the last couple of years. Your CPU is dual-core, and many games today like triple or quad-core CPUs for max performance.. but I wouldn't be too worried about that aspect of your system right now, as your machine has bigger concerns.

What operating system are you running? What kind of power supply (PSU) does your rig have in it? If you upgrade to 3 or 4GB of RAM, and get a better GPU you will see much better, more consistent performance.

That is a myth. The option is only there to diagnose CPU issues during bootup, leave it alone. As to the OP, you need a new GPU and possibly a new PSU. That CPU is also weak.

im using windows 7 ultimate.im dont know mch about power supply but my psu is a normal one and using EVEREST it shows VBAT=3.07v.im just gonna check using mcsonfig and try what stinger has adviced.gravitygamer

desertpython: Every system with more than one CPU core that I've changed the advanced boot options on has become more responsive (and decreased boot time) with the number changed, so it's not simply a myth - how much it actually changes things is debatable but not the fact that it has made a difference.

TC you can also right-click on "Computer" then click Properties - go to Advanced System settings - click Settings in the Performance tab - and then select "Adjust for best performance" to let windows use basic settings for your desktop and effects. This will lower memory usage of windows some. While it won't look as nice as "Aero" it will also help things become more responsive.
