Game series that need to come back...

I was recently reading a Cnet blog who was discussing how the Dreamcast needs to be brought back because of all the awesome games and innovations it introduced.

Well, it got me thinking. What other games did I want to come back? A couple names popped into my mind, but one I wanted to share was X-Wing/Tie Fighter series.

Just remember how much fun it was to strap into that 2d rendered cockpit and fly around and blast the blocky looking TIE fighters and star destroyers.

Now imagine this experience in a brand new, 8800GT powered gfx engine =).

So what else do you want to see brought back?

i second most of the games mentioned already (with the exception of deus ex, cuz it's coming back, baby!), and i raise you all no one lives forever and front page sports: football pro.fireandcloud

Deus Ex - check, in development and hoping for the best
Front Page Sports: Football Pro - awesome idea, and with a next-gen engine for the PC (take that EA!)
No One Lives Forever - this would be my #1 choice, would love to see the NOLF series continued

There are several series that I'd love to see revived. But NOLF is at the top of that list. It just doesn't make sense for Monolith to create such a successful pc game icon such as Cate Archer, then stash her away after only 2 games.Qixote

lack of support by fans, i'm afraid. they just didn't sell that well compared to other fps, although the series does have strong support from its niche fanbase. my feeling is that they'll do project origin, and they'll get tired of the fps/horror genre and go back to nolf and take the series to new heights and wonderful dx10 glory.

remember sierra's earthsiege? it did that genre pretty proud too, though certainly mechwarrior 2 is the king of the genre.

It would look crazy, especially when the Armageddon spell is cast that puts all the tribes in an instant fight in a crater like thing!

i'm so glad that they are making new Simon the Sorcerer. Monkey Island would be great too. but i know that point-and-click-games are pretty much permanently dead.

new Syndicate would be nice.

i don't wanna start flaming, but i'm thrilled because of Fallout 3, even if it's done by Bethesda. success or not, atleast someone is making it.

Oh that is damn good news, i totally didn't know that. Populas, definately!! That was such a great game anyway, the graphics looked brilliant even all that time ago.

PLz tell me that there is a new Dungeon Keeper in the making aswell... although i guess i would know about it *hopeful face*

I feel you so much with that X-Wing/Tie Fighter series. Heck I still play it sometimes on my PC now. I would kill to get that with an update.

Syndicate would be fantastic, but I'm sure all the family coalitions would jump on that one. I vaguely remember the mind control weapon you could use to recruit mobs to you and use them as cannon fodder.

Star Control! I almost forgot about that one. I'm not sure how the gameplay would update but that was one fantastic game.

Lastly, for all the people looking for a Jedi Knight sequel, Star Wars Force Unleashed is at least a spiritual successor. Massive, force power, lightsaber play, etc, even if Kyle Katarn isn't involved directly. Too bad its only for the consoles right now =(.
