So yeah this problem has started today, after i installed my new 8800gts, forceware version 158.22. I played oblivion, stalker, fear, everything was fine. Then, i tried to launch far cry, and it didnt work, went to a black screen, then back to desktop. Same for half life 2; i crashed while playing, and then i couldnt lauch it back, it just goes back to desktop...... I havent done a lot of investigation yet, im posting this here because it my be something really easy to fix. So yeah what do you think is wrong? Thanks in advance.

are nvidia drivers like ati drivers? like when you uninstall a driver and reinstall the same version, your 3d settings and such are kept intact, like you set them before uninstalling the driver. also, if i uninstall the driver and install another, do i need to delete riva tuner and re-install it after?

You should uninstall the driver and reinstall an older one, in other case maybe the problem will continue.

You should reinstall an older driver, not the same one.

I had a similar problem recently when trying to play Civ IV and World In Conflict, it was really making me frustrated because they seemed to be doing it for no reason. I uninstalled my ATI drivers and ran Driver Cleaner than reinstalled the drivers and the problem was cleared right up. If you used Driver Cleaner, be sure to follow the instructions included (booting in safe mode, running cab cleaner etc...).
