for me it should be counter strike source. It's just pure multiplayer perfection; cant describe it better than that.

starcraft is a timeless classic so whether you are an rts buff or not, this is essential. Looks dated now but the core gamely is as great as ever. Hopefully starcraft 2 will be as good.

Half Life 1 and 2, No One Lives Forever 1 and 2, Deus Ex, maybe Crysis (let's see if it falls to into classic status in the future)

For MP, I'd say everyone should at least try one the Battlefield games.

I really enjoyed Mafia. And Rome: Total War was refreshing and original. Oblivion is also awesome, butIguessit`snotforeveryone. Aashammer

I have to agree with Rome:Total War. Together, it reallymade turn-based and real-time strategy gaming what I always wanted it to be.

I would add Superme Commander, Call of Duty series, Starcraft, Sims 2 and Civilization 4 up there as well
