There so many to name.

BFBC2

Morrowind(yeah I know its old, but there's a nice graphic mod that makes it look very nice) and Oblivion(FCOM or at least Obscuors oblivion overhaul + MMM mods really make this game amazing. Also bunch of other great mods. If you get it be sure to get some of the graphic improvement mods as well)

The Witcher

Orange Box

That's to just name a few. List a few games you really enjoyed on the console so we can get a better idea what you like.

Alrighty

  • Call of Duty
  • Gears of War
  • Dead Rising
  • WoW (LOL i no)
  • All of the Dawn of Wars

Sorry if these arent that specific, its hard for me to stay interested in a game unless it has good multiplayer, hence CoD and gears. i did get the witcher today and am thoroughly enjoying it. I also have SC2

FPS: Crysis

RTS: Starcraft 2

RPG: Dragon Age

He is absolutely right, any PC gamer would MUST have Starcraft 2, its just that good, you could also try the new Dawn of War coming out, I hear thats pretty good too. As for Dragon Age, its really fun, I dont like it cuz im freaked out by the giant spiders in there (yes I know they are just pixels). Crysis is also pretty fun. Here are some more;

FPS: Bad Company 2, Operation Flashpoint (its very realistic but some people dont like it), Medal of Honor Pacific Assault

RTS: Company of Heroes (highly recommend it), Dawn of Discovery, Tropico 3 (a fun city building game)

RPG: Fallout 3, I don't know many RPGs but I hear the Fallout 3 is pretty fun.

Others (these are some that I like): Sims 3, Tropico 3, Civ 5

Hope this helps, Good Luck

EDIT: Don't forget about your PS3 and 360, some pretty sweet titles coming out for both, and Dead Space 2 is gonna be amazing, its a Thrid-Person Shooter though

There are tons of games out there. I recently got a new laptop so I purchased COD:BO and Deadspace2. I love COD:BO besides for the fact it stops responding randomly ever 20 hours or so. The theme of it is so cool and mystical. Also looking forward to picking up Dead Space 2 here in few hours for midnight release. You will want to watch out for a number of games mmorpgs this year, namly tera online, rift, star wars the old republic, guildwars2 and some others are all AAA titles and are going to be great. Also Battlefield 3 and Modern warfare 3 are suppose to hit this year or land. Lots of good games coming!!!!

amnesia: dark descent, painkiller + BooH, fear + extraction point + perseus mandate (12 bucks on steam :o)

the path (more of psychologically messed up rather than horror)

and its not so much horror as it is graphic.. dragon age: origins

Yeah look into the getting the penumbra collection you get all 3 games of the series for $20 and then look into amnesia the dark decent by the same devs its there latest games and is even scarier! Cryostasis is another one but more focus on combat and is poorly optimized to don't expect good performance no matter how good your pc is.

First game Overture has combat but its clunky and not the main point of the series which focus more on exploration, solving puzzles, and creating a tense atmosphere with some scary moments and for me it had interesting back story as you read the little notes you found describing the events that had unfolded before had at the place you where in. All the other games from frictional games removed the combat which was for the best made it scarier since you couldn't fight back your only option was to run or hide! If you want an action oriented game with horror elements then get fear very nice gunplay and slowmo effects Doom 3 is another option fun action filled gameplay with cheap scares as monsters pop out of nowhere as you turn around the next corner. and forgot to mention it but Defintly look into the Stalker Series starting with stalker shadow of chernobyl which is a great game very immersive has some challenging but rewarding gunplay and can be pretty terrifying at night when the mutants attack and you can't see anything or the underground labs which are very scary with invisible enemies. Mods only serve to make the game better look into getting the complete mod for it which improves graphics and adds a whole bunch of other improvements that are for the best imo. Its one of my top 5 favorite pc games.

I see looking more for action oriented games look into cryostasis which has some similarites to penumbra but more focus on action the fighting is mainly melee and story is good it won best story here on gamespot when it came out! And speaking of melee combat if you want to experience the best melee combat ever in a first person game get zeno clash its by far the best melee combat I've played in a fps no other game can compete with it not oblivion, condemned, or cryostasis. Its got very nice looking stylized visuals and the story and settings are very strange but that's part of the appeal of the game. And i would recommend at least giving penumbra and amnesia a chance there free demos you can download for both games for so won't cost you anything and who knows you may be pleasantly surprised. And good choice with the Witcher one of my favorite games albiet starts of a bit slow but it just gets better and better as you keep playing i loved every bit of it from act I onwards.
