Having just watched Microsoft's Press event for E3 2007, I am extremely impressed. I don't have much interest in the Xbox 360, but the games shown for Games for Windows were amazing. Two immediately spring to mind:

Call of Duty 4

This games looks, sounds and plays amazing. The presentation is truly a unique achievement for a game of it's type. They've ditched the World War II setting (finally) and placed it in a fictional modern day Russia, near Chernobyl. The visuals are a step up from anything we've seen before, especially in the details. A blade of grass looks photo-realistic. The attempt at a narrative for this game looks to be an interesting new direction as well. Of course, the previous games had this too, but the style in which this one is told is refreshing. I'll definately be keeping my eye on this one as it gets closer to release.

Gears of War

Not only does it feature content that the Xbox 360 games doesn't have, but it supports the Xbox 360 controller as well, meaning that the exact same gameplay experience can be had on the PC. The new boss that Cliffy B fought in the demo was absolutely breathtaking. This is definately a console port that has been worth waiting for, since it seems that it will lose nothing in translation and gain even more!

Other Games for Windows games of interest included Age of Empires, Lost Planet and Viva Pinata. It looks as though this holiday season is going to be the thing that pushes me to buy a Vista enabled PC. I was truly impressed with what Microsoft rolled out for Games for Windows. PC gaming is alive and well. It may just be arguably the best platform to game on these days.

yeah I thought that press conference wasn't too bad actually. COD4, GeOW both look like great games. Along with Bioshock, Crysis, etc PC Gaming is looking better.

I got really steamed that the PC games section was interrupted twice with commercials onG4 ;) I tried to watch it on gamespot... but wanted a bigger view.

I am actually excited about CoD now, it looks much better than I had expected. Of course bioshock, crysis and gears of war will be sweet. It seems that most any game worth playing on xbox will have a PC counterpart.... on top of our PC exsclusives. It's good to be a PC gamer ;)

Anyways they showed off some games, GoW for Pc is looking sweet, but that has more to do with Epic than Microsoft. Overall I am not convinced the Games for Windows was a big part of the show.

I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of PC titles showcased, I had thought it would be a big X-Box pat yourselves on the back "We Winning" M$ 0wns fest and it was for half the show. Then the real meat and gravy started and I was glued. Although I didn't see anything that our good friends here at GS hadn't informed us months back it was great to see new ingame footage of anticipated PC titles on the horizon.

One announcement I was rather miffed at was that GTA 4 would have exclusive extra content for the X-box 360! Great for 360 owners but yet again PC gamers get the shaft. Not only can we expect to play GTA 4 on our PCs months after the 360 release we're treated like the ugly step child on the amount of content. I expect more loyalty from Rockstar seeing PC gamers have been supporting the franchise since early 1998.

Thoughts of Poetic justice flooded my brain as M$ touted thier dominance in the Console world by displaying huge graphs displaying billion dollar sales above their competition but failed to take into account their lengthening of warrantys by 1 full year to replace faulty X-boxes to the tune of 1 billion dollars.

All together I thought the show was good, I could nitpick many more things but I actually like M$ because they afford me a platform to play PC games and life could be worse...I could be a Mac gamer...ick!

If microsoft is really true to their word, in improving games for the PC. They need to stop with the x360 exclusives. Microsoft isnt going to lose anything by having a dual release of Halo 3 on pc and x360. At least have a small wait period for x360 games to come on pc. Instead of calling it x360 exclusive, they should say x360 and windows exclusive.

When they say xbox exclusive, I'm pretty sure they are talking more about consoles then PC's. For example, sony claims unreal turnament 3 is released "exclusively" on the ps3 this year, but it's also coming out for PC.

WHO EVER SAID PC GAMING WAS DYING, MICROSOFTS CONRFRENCE JUST OPENED UP A WHOLE NEW OPPERTUNITY!!! :D:D:D
I mean with the awesome portings of the 360 games, showing that even though they're greedy and want to make more money, they're keeping our pc community alive :D adding bonus contents for US!!! :D:D
and for the games for windows games like COD4,Bioshock and Crysis, i mean YEAH!!!!
and I just hope microsoft get's the "LIVE" done right Fast and Soon!!! i mean that's what we need to keep PC Gaming alive, I really love the idea though....just not much u can do with fps.....but mayB with other games like Mass EFFECT?!?! I AM SO HOPING IT GET'S ON THE PC.....i know it's a xbox 360 exclusive but still, it will still be a microsoft exclusive!!!
I mean this is what we need, to make the XBOX 360 players and PC Gamers ONE gaming community that falls under microsoft :D

PC GAMING FTW :D:D:D

I know, I watched the Sony event and that actually angered me when they said it was "exclusive", I jumped around the net trying to find out it was true, only to realize that it was "console" exclusive which it total marketing BS.
