Games into Movies

These days there are so many games that go into movies.If you guys know any game movies that are coming please list them.

I would normally agree though I thought -Final Fantasy?- was good. I think that was the movie I am thinking of.

I actually liked that one too, though it was reviewed harshly and lost LOTS of money in the box office.

Oh come on! Your telling me you didn't like Mortal Kombat?! Annihilation sucked but the first movie was killer..

haha...alright...alright...I liked a few. Mortal Kombat was cool. I think I was like 12 at the time so it was alright. I even liked Super Mario Brothers :P

Hated Resident Evil though. I know this one didn't pertain to a particular game, but anybody remeber The Wizard? Power Glove ROXXORS!!!!

Well, I really would rather they didn't make movies out of games, since they always do a sucky job. But I guess I can just imagine myself in some freakish universe where games can be made into fantastic movies, just for a moment.

Well, there's the Dark Forces/Jedi Knight series. The No One Lives Forever games would make nice movies. Oh, oh, the Myst franchise has unfathomable potential for great movies. A real Doom movie would be superb. Maybe a Red Faction movie (the original game, not the totally unrelated piece of crap that was RF2)?

Well, that's enough fantasizing, back to the normal universe.

Heh, a No One Lives Forever movie would be like a female Austin Powers. I actually like the Resident Evil movies, but I never played the games and I like that chick from The Fifth Element that's in them. The Tomb Raider movies could have been passable if Lara Croft wasn't played by that lady who looks like an alien. I think Rhona Mitra is the new Lara Croft, so the next one could certainly be watchable, even if it's just for her and on mute.

Bloodrayne and Alone in the Dark were so bad it's like they were trying to be cheesy.

No one mentioned Silent Hill? As far as i'm concerned, Silent Hill is the only game to film that's even half way decent - sure, they ruined some of the imagery that made the series so great and turned the story into something stupider, then explained it in a two minute exposition at the end that made me feel like I must be surrounded by morons if I'm sitting with the target audience, but on the whole I thought it did a good job of conveying the feel of the game, while also being a well put together film

Paul W S Anderson's films are all dire, utterly dire, and Uwe Boll... well, to date I've not seen one of his films, but I think i can say on good authority they suck.

The only game to films i'm looking forward to are Metal Gear Solid, Gears of Warand Warcraft - especially Warcraft.... with a large budget, Blizzard holding the green light and Legendary Pictures (300, batman begins) backing it, we could be in for one hell of a ride.

Gears could be awesome too - if they get the dialogue and visual style down right, it isn't too overtly "badass" and it has a decent budget, it could be a very, very good action science fiction piece.

As for MGS - it's already a pretty cinematic game... personally, I hope they just stick to the game pretty much exactly, only make it less preachy (hideo kojima should've just stuck the text WAR IS VERY NAUGHTY AND BAD in a corner and left it there the whole game). It could be great, it could be terrible. It depends on a lot of things, but it's certainly up against the odds.

if warcraft's movie is all cg like the cg in the game it is definitly a must see for everybodyxithrix

I really hope they don't go that route. I would like it more like LOTR, with live actors, real back drops, and CGI special effects.

If they go the all CGI route, it will fail just like Final Fantasy.

in what what game exactly did final fantasy was based on? right... it had a terrible story, that's why it sucked, but now it is beeing backed by blizzard, and have you ever seen anything from blizzard sucks? i really don't think they want to start now... though i think they are making it based on War2...

Final Fantasy only had the name tag on it, it in no way related to any of the final fantasy games.. Inless your talking about Advent children which was a hit in Japan..

That being said, no just no.. No games should be made into movies.. Not a single one has had a promising actor, director, script writer, or producer in it.

The problem with games to movies... is that they are usually ignored en-mass by the public. Take WOW for instance... sure pretty much the most popular game ever... but BAM make it into a movie and anyone who is a non-gamer which is like 90% of the population (north america/europe) and sudenly tickets sales don't look that good. What they really need to do it make a good movie based on a game that doesn't have a game like title.

I thought Silent Hill was the best game-to-movie adaptation yet. I can't wait for Hitman, I have high hopes for that. There's also Onimusha, Silent Hill 2, and Driver in the works to name a few.Spindoc_SEI

I think they will not make another Silent Hill 2... coz of the story... short... end. Onimusha was planning to be on the hollywood but the problem is that the creator of the Onimusha franchise is a japanese and not an american so... they will first make it in japan made movie.

I personally like the Resident Evil movie, and to answer the question about the older Final Fantasy movie, it was call FF: The Spirits Within.NNY42

There is also Final Fantasy Advent Children whic IMO is bether than Spirits Within because it feels more like Final Fantasy

i also liked Sillent Hill movie,and i am looking forward 2 Warcraft movie and Hitman movie

Doom was one great video game turned into a movie. But the movie that i am hoping they make is Gears of War!!! If they make that game into a movie with decent actors which will suit the games characters that would be AWESOME!!
