Not really a PC games specific topic but my threads rarely are :P

I haven't seen many games that have a similar theme and atmosphere as these two, primarily because of the subject matter. I like the "descent into madness" and snuff movie feel these two games have, and I would definitely like to play more.

Aside from Hotline Miami (which I've already completed, fantastic game), which game series would you recommend ?

In addition, I created a poll to see your opinions about which is the superior game series.

I voted Manhunt, but that's because I had balls to play more of it compared to Condemned, so consider me biased.

I've only played the original Condemned, and I think they managed to capture the eerie and claustrophobic atmosphere very well.  It was a good game, though I wasn't fussed on the end levels.

As for other similar games, I can't think of any at the moment.

painkiller + battle out of hell (somtimes called painkiller black edition) its an FPS but alot of the atmospheres are downright creepy or eerie and killing many of the enemies kinda made me feel very very wrong inside. especially the children hiding under blankets and the zombies with no hands and feet crawling around n such.

yep painkiller has scaring me down to a science. it made me feel like a monster

Alright will check out that Painkiller addon, having already the original...

It's a shame that there are barely any games with this kind of atmosphere :(

Sanitarium is a very disturbing adventure game, though only the first level is on a sanitarium, whole game is a excellent. A game with a similar theme but completely different gameplay is Second Sight. The suffering 1 & 2 have a very distinct descent to madness theme and are among the best horror games ever. Vampire Bloodlines has a snuff level.

Sorry but no, they aren't similar at all.

Still, I played both. One is geniunely scary and the other is just laughable.

Both are great, violent and gritty, but you can't really compare them.

One is a current generation first person horror brawler, the other is a last generation third person stealth action thriller.

Anyways, The Darkness kind of reminds me of them for the decaying look and excessive violence, but it isn't on PC. Silent Hill is also similar in terms of aesthetic, and like Condemned it is a horror game.

I haven't played it, but what about that Half-Life mod called "Cry of Fear"?
