nVidia users are also having some problems, because the initial drivers were pretty buggy and as was said before, a lot of older games didn't work. however, vista is supposedly built to work with games much more so than xp, so microsoft/companies cashing in on that just need to make it more of a reality.
vista is pretty good though, if you're buying a new computer, it's worth it, you just might have some rough patches at the beginning.
I've had issues with Viata and Oblivion. I'm guessing it's a video driver issue, but I get a 10-20fps hit while playing Oblivion on Vista.
Save yourself the headach and money. Stick with XP till there is a real need to get Vista.
Are computer games compatible with Windows Vista? silverrhinoNo, you can only play PS2 games on Vista right now, hopefully they fix that in the near future :)

It is true that nVidia is having problems with video cards but it is mostly a random glitching on you screen and you can experience it even when you're on your Windows Vista desktop... Not really a big deal for me. Unfortunatly, nVidia hasnt release the drivers to fix that problem yet. Like I said on my previous post, you might experience drivers problems with Vista and especially with Vista 64-bits.
For the games, I can tell you that there is ALWAYS a way to make things work on Vista. If you can't make a game run the first time you might simply have to rename a folder (Referring to NFS Carbon CE, it would crash when the game starts and I just had to rename the MOVIES folder and it worked perfectly) or use the compatibility mode. Really not a big deal...
You make the final decision... I couldnt wait to use Vista and I managed to be able to play all my games.
:P
If i was you, I'd stay away for as long as I could, Vista has to many issues for gamers to be using it.pwillettsPeople need to rephrase and say Nvidia drivers have issues with games. It has nothing to do with the OS.
in general it's best to wait for the first service pack before upgrading. there's no real benefit from getting the first release since games won't require it for a while.Ontain
I'd say better to wait till service pack 2. XP became very stable after the service pack 2. Anw, my friend played some old games like Age of Mythology and Unreal Tournament perfectly well on Vista. I'm not so sure about the other problem Vista have right now. But juz make sure that you have a very large RAM.
I can assure you that if you have a nVidia 7 series you are bound to run into some problems. I am running a 7900 Go for my laptop and to put it bluntly it was a piece of crap (constant stuttering in almost every single game I tried to play). I thought it was just my computer until I downgraded to XP, smooth as silk now.ScudBuster
Well, my friend uses NVidia 7400 Go and he has no problem playing games. Maybe it's juz the NVidia 7900 Go or maybe there's a software incompatibility. Have you checked the NVidia driver upgrade? Sometimes unofficial patch is better like the Omega driver for ATI
