Games similar to BioShock and Dead Space?

Anyone know any games like this?

Somewhat scary, upgrading weapons, etc...

It's like I can predict the future. Yeah, I've played both the System Shocks. I loved S.T.A.L.K.E.R. but it is somewhat different from what I am looking for.

Anyone else have any ideas? Maybe even just adventure games that are scary?

I chose to exclude system shock from the topic because I knew that it would very well likely be the only game mentioned.

Undying has everything you're looking for: great story, holy **** moments, scary-ass atmosphere and design, original spells (I mean, you can pull laughing skulls out of the ground and launch them at the enemies!), gunz, upgrades, different types of ammo, journal, great characters, great music, great graphical design, varied and original levels.

How come nobody mentions it, it's a mystery.
