I just got built a new compter, and every few seconds certain games will just skip about 20 frames. Like I'll be running company of heroes with everything on high and it runs smooth, but it will just skip frames every once and a while. I was wondering if you guys knew what caused this. Please help... I just spent a lot on this computer and I don't like this happening.

Activate Vsync to avoid screen tearing.

There is no screen tearing though. Its just every 3-30 seconds, the game will lock up for about half a second, and skip that half seconds worth of frames.

-Defrag your hard disk
-Disable unneeded Windows services (guide) or programs running in the background (Start/Run type "msconfig" then Startup tab)

open the ATi Catalyst Control Panel and search for pre-rendered frames and set it to 3

Will that really make a difference? Only like 22% of the memory is used when I am not doing anything
