TF2, game is already 9 years old. I think some may not know that it started as part of the Orange Box pack with only 6 maps and base weapons. I felt disappointed that this was it. This was the sequel to my TF Classic, it played differently, but I grew on to love the gameplay. They added maps weapons, but then came the hats and item craze also f2p. I won't begrudge them for the latter and I didn't even mind f2p aspect with noobs for me to feast on. The items didn't detract too much for me from liking it and the best part is that its kept the community afloat for so long. I still boot it up once in a while to play and its always fun probably my one of my all time fave actually.
BF3, I knew the netcode suck and it suffered its own problems. Still I loved it for what it is, assault medic class maybe op, but it actually encouraged teamwork where as BF4 nerfed it too much thus discouraging others from even saving you as much. The maps I felt, played much better than BF4, it seems like the map was design first then came the eye candy. Where as BF4 looks more photo/videogenic, but doesn't play as well. I also enjoyed BF3's close quarter dlc it felt like a game within a game, despite the large scaled battles, the mechanics held its own and was tight enough to translate well into small firefights. I had high hopes for the successors that followed, but they failed to impress me, so my love for bf3 grew stronger.
What are some games that started off small or rocky for you, but ended up becoming a lasting memory?
