Now that Crysis has come out and everyone's making less of a big deal about it I thought about how every year or so a game comes out that everyone labels the second coming of Christ and it's used as a way to test graphics cards for the next year or two. As a newcomer of two years or so I've been wondering what other games have set the bar like Crysis and Oblivion did in years past. Remember: Not just games with really good graphics (AOE 3, Company of Heroes, etc.) but games that were hyped insane amounts since they were announced. They can come from any time period as long as they're on the PC (Or mac, hahahahaha).
Right, I'm saying which games can compare to Crysis for the time they came out, such as Oblivion, since it was probably the most graphically advanced game for its time. And thanks.
true, i just played half life 2 for the first time yesterday, and I must say, i was really impressed with the graphics. Looks really nice, i cant imagine how people reacted during that time of release. I havent played this game in 2004 because i wasnt i true/real gamer yet.

That game still looks good to me whenever i play it.
