Hello, I recently figured something out about myself. I love making stuff. My favorite games are 1. Starcraft 2 because you make an army and a base 2. Skyrim because you grow a character from simple guy 3. Minecraft because you get to make awesome buildings 4. Final Fantasy because you get to level up and grow your characters I think you get the point. My question is this. Are there any games that are like a Minecraft MMO where you make stuff that is actually useful? Like a mix between Starcraft, Skyrimm, and Minecraft. My problem with minecraft is that the stuff you make isn't actually useful. If I make a giant pyramid it isn't going to help me in any way. I want a game where you have to strategically build bases in a way that will best protect you from the enemy, or where you have to figure out the best and most efficient way to build a mine. Is there any such thing? Oh and I know some of you will say get Dwarf Fortress but that game's UI is just too bad. Otherwise if that were multi player it would be my favorite game of all time! Miner Wars, it's in pre-alpha stage. You mine out minerals, build space stations, that kind of stuff.

I've been playing through some of the older Civilization games again recently (just picked up Civ 5+Expansion also) and they might be what you're looking for since you can build your own kingdom.
Check out a new game that is in alpha, called "7 Days To Die".
It is a combination of Minecraft, Dayz and Fallout, with some Tower Defense elements to.

Yep i have been playing it and it could be great.it is still on Alpha 1 at the moment so there is far to go but the potential is there for it to become a brilliant game
Everytime somebody mentions Kerbal Space Program it makes them automatically win the internet!
So you sir are a winner, and considering i just mentioned it, i win too :P
dam it i was just going to recommend that also! my quest to win an internet continues :(. still in pre alpha so very buggy and it has quite a harsh learning curve.....but oh so awesome.
