Not that I can think of... If you have a PS2 or PS3 with backwards compatibility then I would recommend God of War and God of War 2.

This is really not what you're looking for, but you may enjoy it anyway, and it's free. Toribash is a turn based, free-form fighting game where you create your own moves.

Assassins Creed?

that one's pretty close to PoP, yeah. you either love it or hate it, i actually liked it :D i don't think 'free-form combat' is exactly what you're looking for though, yeah. something like Die By the Sword is what i'd call free-form..

Yeah the fighting in Assassins Creed is great.. bit shallow though but still different. And you do it over and over again A LOT.. so you'll have to really really like it.

It does get old after a while, but it's a good system, and is a fun game. I would go with AC.

That's what I would like to know. When I think of the PoP games, I can't recall anything different with its combat compared to other combat or fighting games that make's it more free-form.

Right. Same thing with Assassin's Creed. I thought the combat was fun, but it was just a standard combat system. I think there was only one button to strike & one to block. Hitting the attack button a few times would result in combos or something. My memory sucks...I barely remember that game anymore and I enjoyed it a lot.

If by free form you mean not turn-based, the gaming market is full of games with a free combat system (even World of Warcraft can be under this category). However if by "free form" you mean NO TARGETING like in GTA and Assassin's Creed........then I think you'll be interested in games like Ninja Gaiden.

i just finished the 360 ver after months :) on offense, it's one to attack, one to 'step' (lunge forward), and one to grab/throw. on defense it's one to counter, one to dodge, and one to grab break. if you swing at them and they block, if you time the second attack button press right as they block it can be a one-hit kill. if they swing at you and you counter, you either knock them down or one-hit kill them. all in all, it looks really, really, really pretty. man, the special animations were brutal..

Assassins Creed?

Yeah! That one slipped my mind. I would definitely recommend AC, but be prepared for some repetitive gameplay. A good portion of it was fun though, like running around climbing buildings, and the combat system is awesome. I think I enjoyed the free-roaming part more than anything else. It doesnt necessarily mean it's a bad thing but I thought I'd mention that. :P
