Odd topic I know but today I was looking through my game boxes and realized something. Most games have a crappy manual that is either mostly on the disc or a 10 page quickstart guide. Does anyone else miss the days of big manuals that were actually printed out? I will start the list of games with good manuals that I have

-Anything made by Blizzard

-Witcher

-Neverwinter Nights

-Baldurs Gate II

  • World in Conflict
  • Civilization 4's manual is HUGE and informative
  • Rome Total War
And I love the game but The Orange Box's manual is only one page that only has controls so it kinda sucks....:D

hahaha, i agree, i was hoping for a much bigger manual for such a kick butt game:P

I think EA makes the worst manuals, some of them are just one or two pages and thats it.

*** Also the newest Banjo Kazzoie game has a fantastic manual aswell ***

Kohan 2 had a nice thick colored manual. Dungeon Keeper 2 was a good one as well. Morrowind, any Blizzard title, Age of Empires 3, Jade Empire ect. My fav manual, even though it's a PS1 game, was Lunar Silver Star Story Complete. It's a hardbound manual with thick glossed paper, full color, dev interviews, mini walkthrough and even comes with a red strip for a bookmark. :)

Summoner, an older RPG, actually had a 25 page color manual. I was impressed.

The Witcher has a manual? My Enhanced Edition came with lots of paper, like an install guide, a map and a walkthrough, but no manual.

The only games that have an extremely good manual, from what I know, are the Blizzard games and the Egosoft games, the X series and they are awesome and fun to read too (the egosoft ones, the blizz manuals are kinda useless at least for me but they might be fun too)

Vampire the Masqurade: Redemption

Fallout 2 (I'm sure Fallout 1 also has a nice manual)

Vampire Bloodlines has an pretty nice manual too, although not quite as awesome as Redemption.
