So Gamespot decided to fire one of my favorite reviewers, Jeff Gerstmann, just because they didn't like his review for Kane and Lynch. This to me is some underhanded moneygrubbing cracksmackery. I will probably be migrating to another site for my gaming news and information.

The question I have is, what are some good alternatives?

I know gametrailers has much better video, IGN has some decent reviews, but what about forums? Accurate release dates? HONEST employees that honor the opinions of their staff?

Lets hear some insight from the populace, eh?

Oh, and if this thread gets deleted, and my account gets banned, I think we all will know why.

Discuss.

I think it's a bit rude posting this on Gamespot. My problem is with some of Gamespot's management not it's staff, who are passionate about what they do and present issues aside give us a high quality game site. For that reason I will contine to support them.

Im in no way leaving gamespot(unless I get banned for some reason), but I did recently create a account on 1UP.com, the only other major website is IGN.com, and they suck, too mainstream-focused for me.

Also about 80% of those people who said they were leaving gamespot because Jeff was fired are most likelygoing to stay, so if your considering leaving about that, just forget it, people make threats to get what they want, they rarely act on those threats though.

Unfortunatly there is no real alternative...

There is no real Gaming forums...I mean there are the game forums themselves...but no real over-all gaming forum.

They few that are out there are pretty quiet...

I really don't like Gamespot..but there is nowhere else..

The reason I don't is not because they fired some poor smhuck...I could care less...

But the inaction of mods regarding piracy discussion really irks me....( You know who you are !)

Maybe whenI win the lotto..I'll buy gamespot and fire all the mods and start over...or build my own web site..

I can't believe people actually pay for this...!

I guess there is a sucker born every minute...

assumption is the mother of all f**k-ups

for all we know he was caught with kiddy porn on his computer. the idea that reviews are posted without being reviewed doesn't make sense at all to me. If that happened at my company and one of my employees posted something company-damaging it would me my ass, not their's.

GS is THE best in every aspect you can probably think of...i have tried IGN and GT and its just not the same.

Regardless, i think it was realy wrong to fire the best reviewer they had...

This site is the best. IGN just plain sucks, GT's is lame and 1UP is lame so Gamespot it is.

This thread is obviously off-topic so it deserves to be locked and to avoid the "mean mod lockin my thread" service I am gonna take the occasion to say a few words about the whole thing.

First, you're not going to get banned for posting something like this. Has the mod team ever treated you badly? I don't think so, so please don't make assumptions like that.

Quite honestly, I don't understand all the fuss about Jeff. Did you know the guy personally? Why do you assume you know the reasons behind him getting fired? Why would you want to quit now and not when Greg Kasavin left GS earlier this year?

People come and go in GS, just like in any other company.

Oh and mods can't be fired because guess what, they're not hired by GS in the first place. Mods are just users like you doing this on a volunteer basis.
