8.5

That's about right imo. I would have enjoyed it more without the crashes though.

Well, for people who only care about numbers there are many sites that gave it 9/10 and 10/10. Pick the game up people, one of the best of the year :)

And again GS just doesn't even review the PC version.

Weaknesses for all three "slow loading times" Now I haven't played the game yet of course (I don't pirate) but I'll be shocked if loading times are as bad on PC as it is on consoles. Don't even bother getting PC reviews from GS this whole place is funded by console game devs.

The PS3 review does allude to the PC version, "On the PC, the game performs adequately but still looks slightly dated", so I assume it's going to be a generic review for all three platforms.

Seems to be a pretty fair review overall, although I do hate how GS does one review for all systems (I didn't even see any PC footage in the video review). Some of the complaints seemed valid but some I really just don't care about like loading times. Plus if you remember the AI in Deus Ex it was about as smart as a rock and that game was still great in its time. I agree the boss fights are a bit out of place but nothing game breaking.

PC Gamer gave it a 94 out of 100, and I tend to trust their reviews more than most others. We all know that it's just one persons view of the game. I prefer to here from fellow gamers more than (paid) reviewers. I did preorder this game though and I will judge it for myself.

Well, buy a SSD.

The graphics may be technically dated, but the art direction is simply amazing. Game environments rarely feel so real, and it's a huge achievement considering it takes place in settings we're all familiar with. The amount of incidental detail is astonishing.

Hardware sometimes doesn't matter... it also depends on how the engine is programmed and optimized.

It's not something they CAN'T fix. Remember Witcher Vanilla? the loading times were stupid long... but with a few patches they made it load heaps faster.

GS reviews are all over the place, and nothing to go by. I mean it's still a good score, but.. yeah. They gave Deus Ex 1 an 8.2 http://www.gamespot.com/pc/rpg/deusex/index.html?tag=result%3Btitle%3B3

Hahahahah, epic.... also gives me time to run to the toilet to take a leak.... (gotta be really fast though in Black Ops cause change of maps is only like 20 seconds...lol)

TIP: the PAUSE button...

8.5 is a great score. It's a higher score than Deus Ex received, and Deus Ex is on of my favorite game of all time. Btw...the loading times are NOT bad at all if you are gaming on pc.

The complaints about loading times may be well deserved on the PC as well guys. The leaked version had TERRIBLE loading times despite being on PC. We're talking over a minute just to load a save or new area here. Everyone gave it a pass because it was a beta version, but from the sound of the review that issue never got fixed.

40 second load times for the large hubs and 10-20 for smaller areas is hardly a game breaker. It's not like you are going back and forth a lot, usually you'll be in an area for a long time, side quests do have a little bit of loading and going back and forth but compared to something like the witcher 1 which loaded each little house it's a minor issue imo. I have had only like 2 crashes so far and I'm 14 hours into the game so bug wise it's also a non issue. (I have the review version, embargo lifted today)

I personally find the AI pretty capable, I think stealth games need a lot better AI than just normal shooters. They spot dead bodies, see you hiding and investigate. You don't want ot make them too smart or the game becomes too hard. The game is already pretty hard on normal if you are playing a stealth character. In a similar way to Crysis 2 people see a few flaws and say the AI is terrible, hardly true for either game

I think there are more issues with level design, mostly that the design is too conveneint. The cover mechanic is core to stealth and shooting and some areas you have this linear trail of cover spots that Jensen just moves around. There have been some really great action areas though.

See that's the difference. I don't do anything else while I game (don't even have a second monitor to chat or anything), that's why if the load time is too long I get a bit frustrated.... No worries if it's something like 30-40 secs.... but when we go into 1-2 minutes then it breaks the immersion a bit.

True, I guess it depends on how long they are and how frequent. Plus it unclear if he was mostly referring to consoles. Luckily though I have a fast computer so they shouldn't be bad.

Kevin V. Mr. 8.5. I know there are many Kevin V fanboys but I could care less about what he has to say nowadays. He just doesn't want to ever give a game a 9.0.. because to him, that's like giving a game a 10/10 and nothing is perfect.. or close to it. Day one purchase.

Same guy that gave Vanquish a 9.0 which had terrible voice acting, super cheesy dialogue, and cliche story, or better yet, lack there of. Mind you, I personally liked Vanquish but it didn't deserve a 9.0. Not even close. But that just goes to show that no one should buy a game based on a score.

And he probably played the console version.

Doesn't always matter... it also depends on how well the engine is built.

I went ahead and pre-ordered just now. I have 5 hours before it unlocks so more than enough time to download and install. 8.5 is a good score. Plus I'm tired of the constant tolkien settings. That 8.5 will easily be a 9.0 for me since I general like this type of futuristic, inner city setting like blade runner. I much rather have a setting like this than aliens and space travel like Mass Effect though there is nothing wrong with that.

Dragon Age 2 was a really incredible game, people were just all sore because it deviated so much from Dragon Age 1

As for Deus Ex, I can't wait. I am staying up three hours past my bedtime just so I can play an hour before I go to sleep lol. Its gonne be a rough day at work tomorrow, but hopefully worth it.

[QUOTE="ferret-gamer"][QUOTE="slabber44"]PC Gamer gave it a 94 out of 100, and I tend to trust their reviews more than most others. We all know that it's just one persons view of the game. I prefer to here from fellow gamers more than (paid) reviewers. I did preorder this game though and I will judge it for myself.mrbojangles25

To be honest they gave Dragon Age 2 a 94 as well.

I wouldn't call it INCREDIBLE. Maybe good and fun...

What really put me off was the recycled environments, the backtracking and also how obvious that it was a VERY rushed product...

The complaints about loading times may be well deserved on the PC as well guys. The leaked version had TERRIBLE loading times despite being on PC. We're talking over a minute just to load a save or new area here. Everyone gave it a pass because it was a beta version, but from the sound of the review that issue never got fixed.gameguy6700

dunno about your rig, but on the leaked version my load times were comparatively shorter, like 30-40 seconds for the main city

Why does everyone assume that if someone played a game early they pirated it?

I'm not a f**** pirate. Jesus Christ.

I know people in Eidos... is that really so hard to believe?

No one said you pirated it. There was a leaked beta version of it which lots of gamers played and gave their reviews for... but it was an incomplete build. (So if you know people at Eidos, they let you play unreleased games?)

Good friends don't always follow the rules. ;)

It wasn't the beta version though.
