At the moment I'm using a 5GBP headset where one of the cans have gone. Can anyone reccomend me a decent headset for around £70 or less? I'm thinking surround sound, currently though, I'm using onboard on my GB-P35-DS3L because I fried my soundcard, but I'll probably upgrade to a X-Fi xtreme gamer again if it'll improve quality.

So far I've looked at the medusa and the plantronics gamecom777. I'm not sure about a stereo headset since I think surround sound would be much better for FPS aswell as for atmosphere in single player games.

Thoughts?

P.S. sorry for bad typing ect, on asstop.

I have a Creative Fatal1ty headset and am thoroughly pleased. Its not surround tho, but build quality and comfort and sound quality are all pretty nice.

It may not be built or look gaming, but it really works and the sound quality is great. Microsoft lifechat Lx3000. only bad thing is the mic could be alot better at noise canceling. http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/digitalcommunication/productdetails.aspx?pid=006

Well, I've done some more research and so far I've narrowed it down between:

Plantronics gamecom 777
Tritton AX51

The plantronics is a stereo headset /w a soundcard USB thingy that immitates surround sound with dolby. It sounds a bit better on music from the sounds of it, but less so in gaming.

The tritton AX51 is actual surround sound and is ALOT cheaper, but I can't find anywhere that stocks it in the UK. Anybody got an experience with either of them?

If you are going to get a new X-Fi sound card, then get some Sennheiser HD555s, CMSS-3D is a very good virtual 3D software addon

I was looking into getting a decent set of seinheissers but I refuse to use a desktop mic, in my experiences they have been absolutly awfull.
