So I'm looking at the Razer Carcharias and the SteelSeries Siberia V2 (I'm NOT picking the USB model). I saw them both on sale at a local shop for $55-60 and thought that down from their normal price of about $85-100 that's a great deal.

Now, I've heard great things from Cnet about the Razer headset and heard great things about the Siberia V2 from tested.com.

Now I want some more opinions from you! If you know of other great headsets, post too!

They're both pretty good if you don't want to get an pair of audiophile headphones and a mic, but I think I like Razers a tiny bit more. They're pretty comfortable(although the strap on the Siberia is awesome) and don't sound terrible(not saying the SteelSeries sound bad. In fact, I'd say the sound quality is the same, with Razer winning in some cases and the Siberia winning in others).

Also, link to Tested = +10 interwebz.

I have Razer Carcharias myself & it's a great headphone. as you may heard from a number of people it's extremely comfortable no matter how long you use it... sound quality is great as well (awesome bass), however not deadly precise or positional as I thought it would be. but does the job for me. i love it. get razer megalodon instead if you're into serious competitive online play, otherwise Carcharias should be fine.

First, read the sticky if you haven't already. Consider also the final paragraph of the Tested.com comparison you linked:

...if you're really serious about audio, you're probably better off getting good headphones and a standalone USB microphone, like the Blue Snowballor Samson Go Mic. After all, the microphone is for everyone else, but the headphones are for you. Who do you really want to take better care of?Tested dot com

That said, of the two, the Carcharias are the better option, as it my understanding. If you want some serious headset reviews, try this forum: http://forums.majorleaguegaming.com/topic/178690-headset-review-roundup/

Good luck,

Boz

What exactly do you mean deadly precise? Is the sound off somehow?

And in responce to all you guys; firstly, thank you all for the input.

Secondly - to clarify - I'm looking for a more simple, clutter-free solution. I prefer a headset because it's a kind of all-in-one package, and it'd be more convenient for getting Skype setup for my mom or dad when they do decide to use it.

Wow that WAS a serious review thread. Damn! Well I was very pleased with the guys reviewing s.t.y.l.e (and credentials) and when he gave the Carcharias a thumbs up, I smiled and knew that my decision had been finalized. Will be picking this one up! Thanks!

FYI, you can use styIe. Replace the L with a capital

I don't agree with his reviews of headsets I've used, but it's your money. I don't like any Razer products and would recommend SteelSeries instead, but others seem to prefer the Razers

I don't like their KB/Ms because they seem cheap and their headsets are small with a tight fit/clamp. IMO anyways.
