To be honest, I don't think it's all that important. Sure it's nice to be good at online games, but the best gaming experiences, in my opinion anyway, are single-player anyway. Regardless, nobody can really give you any tips unless you told us what game(s) you're playing online.

Yea, stop playing games and get a life.

Gaming is great and all, but seriously, it should not be your first priority, especially if you suck at it. The only tip I can give is to uhhh, practice, but seeing that your playing all day anyways, I'm afraid your just bad, or young.

Uh yeah, so mostly FPS I see. The only thing you can really do to get better at those games is to practice a lot, and that's gonna take up a lot of your time. If you invest a lot of time in them, you'll certainly get a lot better, but you'll find you'll have less time on your hands to do other things. That's pretty much why I stick to single-player games mostly; I don't wanna devout large amounts of time into a single game just to become really good at it online.

Well your not going to get good by acting like that.. You need to play online more.. If you good at CSS you will be better at all FPS online. Watch other players that are good.. Always crouch jump crouch fire.. The guns pull up aim a little below the head and burst fire.. Stay moving..

and just Play play play

You are 13 years old. Even if youre the brightest 13 year old on the planet you will not be able to compete against an average college student. well not unless they are really dumb and inexperienced but the point is youre young. Give it 2-3 years and you will be able to compete with anyone. In the mean time, hit the books.

Mate, you play games that require a lot of in game skill. More than usual at least. Now I'm not trying to dis the games, I like halo and hl2- but they're pretty independant in terms of skill required. Maybe give quake3arena a go, heaps of people still play it online, (and don't be discouraged, they ARE all bloody good, not just in this case you're bad.) and it's great to get a mate who games and have a 1v1 for a night.

Anyway- try games that are raw fps', like quake, RTCW and ET. I'm not trying to advocate these games over the games you play now, but in my experience and opinion, games like CS and HL2 take a heck of a lot of practise (ie getting used to each gun's firing style in cs)- which yes, is just part of what makes the game unique.

But if you aren't good at it, maybe spending some time on quake will pay off, since new games don't show any signs of going anyway, I doubt the (what now would be) cult following of q3a probably won't die down, not for a GOOD long while.

EDIT: Anyway, I quit games a couple months ago, and it's pretty good. Still go on GS to relieve the craving ^^, but a lot more time to do stuff, and a lot less aggression after quitting (Got angry from games, can only imagine because of the nature of the games, and when things went wrong- in terms of computer buggering up). But yeah, quit now buddy- games are fun, but you'll learn later if you get out of them that the experience was nice, but it wasn't worth it.

How can i or her give you tips without you telling what game?

usually first person shooters are difficult for most newbies. I suggest switching to RolePlayingGame genre like Titan Quest, Neverwinter Nights 2, Phantasy Star Universeor MassivelyMultiplayerOnlineRoleplayingGame like World of Warcraft, Lineage2, Archlord, Lord of the Rings Online, Final Fantasy 11 etc....

What I normally do is to record when you play. Learn what the 'experts' do by observing them. You'll eventually pick up their habits hence very predictable. An example is UT. Single player I rock because I pretty much know what the bots are going to do however when playing online I used the same tactics hence getting smashed. So I record the game because these 'experts' won't tell you a thing. All they can say it's either practice or tactics but absolutely no pointers what-so-ever. So recording the game and replay it you pick up their habits and now I smashed them. Should I reveal the secret? Read this post!

Playing games online doesn't take *supreme amounts of skill*. Nobody is born to play some games online. All you do is practice, and get into a good clan, or such. One vs. One games are pointless as many games are structured on team-based combat.

Single Player games and their difficulty has always been the hardest to master, IMO. If you can pull off something near-impossible to do in a single player game then you've earned the respect of some gamers.

Besides, gaming takes no real skill. Lets be honest. Gaming really doesn't take any skill. Anyone can do it, and anyone can get good at it. The people who go into national tournaments and leagues for video games are indeed nerds who need the hell beat out of them. So don't worry about it. As someone here said before: your best experiences will usually be *good* single player games (by the end of this year, that won't be hard to find).

LOL I know what you mean. I guess I can relate to the thread creator. I've been playing FPS titles for years, but I still have bits of trouble here and there when playing online against people. I can usually rack up 3rd place at least, but that's not enough for me. I used to be much better, but something changed all the sudden.

not really all you have to do is to watch the road to see that you've got there good distance ahead to drive straight and just blink at the mini map for not more than 1 sec - to see how soon you need to take a turn

On most of your tactical or FPS style games it's best to use a little Patience.. make a plan and then attack unless you're forced to run and gun

Hell, if all you're doing is gaming, I'd say get off your compy and go run around or something, you know? I mean, I'm not trying to sound like the arbitrary parent figure (which I'm not), but it does a body good to just be outside and not confined to a small space with a computer as your only connection to the world. But anyway, if you really want to get good at online FPS's, it takes an extreme amount of dedication. I played CS:S for awhile, about 3 months, and I was about 30 on a 2500 player server. I mean, I wasn't very good, but still was pretty decent. But then, I saw that I had become obsessed, and I'd wake up on the weekend just to play CS:S, and that I'd be thinking about it constantly. I went cold turkey, right then and there, and I haven't played it since. Well yeah, I've been doing things much differently now, like writing and just walking around my neighborhood and hanging out with friends. I guess the point is though, don't waste your time on something as trivial as video games. Life is for living, eh?

Don't give up so quick. Here are some tips: 1) Start with a game that is relatively new. That way no one is too far ahead of you and everyone is on a learning curve. Games like CSS that have been around a long time are just going to frustrate the new online player. 2) Stick to one or two online games. The truth it most good online players specialize in one game and play it to death. 3) Learn the map. That is key. When you are starting out try to pick or one or two maps and play them to death. You need to learn were the spawn points, weapons, best locations, strats etc. 4) Play regularly. Even if it is only a few hours day. 5) Don't get frustrated if you get wrecked at first. If you keep playing you will improve quickly and soon you will be pwning others. Plus everyone has good and bad rounds. 6) Once you start to get good a game, consider joining a clan. If you find a good one you will be plugged into a group of experienced players that ramp you up to speed much faster and share tips and tricks that you might not simply figure out on your own. You are bit young but if you look around there are plenty of teams that are geared to younger players. 7) "Whatver you do, never let anyone beat you!" - Street Fighter.:P

we'll i am only 13 but i've been playing games for 11 years playing snes when i wus 2

bigd131

i started playing games when i was around 4, and found that my skill with games didn't really start to come into its own until i was around 14 or 16

i mean, sure, i was good at games before then - but it was during those years that i really started to get great at games, and could easily devour console games in a matter of hours, that's one of the big reasons i turned to pc games to begin with

some games demand simple dexterity, and the only way to improve that is to play more, but your ability to play many games, especially pc games, is determined by the way in which you think, and how you make decisions - and age is bound to be a central factor

but mostly, it's both dexterity and age

so keep on playing, and have patience

I started serious online gaming when I was 11 and played CS 1.6 a lot and starcraft on weekends when I had free time, my xfire is littered with a ton of FPS and RTS games now with 1147 combined hours total.

Since it's summer and I only go out once a week, I have alot of free time to game now. I am really, really good at online FPS games, mostly CSS since I had experience from CS 1.6 when I was thirteen

My tip would be to practise your reflexes on online game thingys and try to learn a sport and play it consistently. I played basketball at school every single day with my friends and that developed my hand movements and reflexes. I also pen spin very well and my fingers start becoming more flexible and faster and My hand-eye coordination improves greatly

I hate being too good at games. I remember i went hardcore on SSB and SSBM and became so good that the game began to suck. I luv playing people who can kill me because it gives me sumthing to work towards.
