You would want at least 2GB of ram and a 8600M GT if you want to do serious gaming.

Yeah definately go for 2gb ike the above poster said. You can live with 1gb for now but in the future you may suffer. The graphics card is okay, but a 8600gt would do wonders, or an 8700gt fi you can find a labtop with one. On a labtop you are almost always going to have to compromise on the processor, so any core 2 centrino with around 2ghz is fine. If you dont care for battery life or heat, then some companies will stick desktop processors int heir notebooks if you really need the power. Generally rts games really abosolutely need the best processor you can get yur hands on, other games, not so much. The comp you listed has good value though, it will run most games at okay settings. If you can bump up what we recommended, if you are on a budget, don't feel bad and you shold be fine.

No you should not get if you're a gamer. "Gaming" laptops are only marketed as such to sucker computer-illiterate people into thinking that they can have a laptop capable of matching a desktop in any way shape or form when the laptop simply can't. Keep using a desktop gaming computer unless you're a multi-millionaire and want to throw a dozen or more hundred dollar bills into the wind.

Best advice I can give is to NOT listen to the crap I quoted here.

Laptops aren't quite the same as Desktops, but that's mostly due to the fact that laptop's have more limits. If you have the money, you can get a laptop that performs very well. See my laptop specs below. Everything I have or have had running on it is being done on high to max settings. I'm running Half-Life 2 at 1920x1200 with all settings maxed out and 2xAA. I get an average 40FPS which is freat for those kinds of settings. I can run Lost Planet at high settings, I can run Stalker with pretty high settings as well. I just got the World in Conflict beta awhile back and I run that on high for almost every setting and a resolution of 1280x720.

My friend spent only 1200 dollars canadian, on a Core 2 Duo 2.2GHz, 4GB ram, and a 8600M GT, which plays almost all games on high settings. Of course the laptops aren't as good as thier desktop counterparts, but thats the price of mobility.
