Hi, I have decided to build a computer instead of getting a ps3. I would like to play on my 32" lcd to save $ by not buying a monitor.

I would like opinions on what works better:

Having the pc close to the tv or having the pc close to where I would play from. I really want to use wired keyboard/mouse (price, reliability, no batteries). If I have the pc close to the center of the room where I am, I could simply use a long hdmi cable to the tv. But, what do I do for audio?

I kinda want to get a $75 5.1 surround sound system for my tv. Would I just use a male to male rca cable from my motherboard to my tv, then it could go to the surround sound?

Does this rig look ok?

depends on your hdtv support resolution (720, 1080p) . it still looks good but the text are extremely small and hard to read unless you sit very close to it which i don't recommend

yea thats gona kill yea, your gona want a monitor :(, they are fairly cheap, just get one @ target bestbuy walmart ect for around $200 and they will do you good. For movies it would be fine but gaming no, the highest res would be 720p and its that big of a tv. Maybe you still want a ps3? but if you want a gaming comp power to you but you will need a monitor.

I realize I would be limited to 1280x768, but that is what I would be limited to on a ps3 correct? I have a vga cable from my laptop to tv. Just text and internet looks fine, but I haven't played a game. I am downloading the battlefield 2 demo to try out with my laptop in a little bit.

Get 2x2Gb instead of 2x1. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145184

either one of those would be an excellent choice

My freind does this and IMO its annoying as $H!T :/ You cant read any text at a resolution that big, and you have to have it quite far away in order have an alrite gaming experience.

I kinda understand this because the tv is harder on the eyes than at my laptop for every day use. However, isn't this the exact same as what a ps3 would be like? The resolution should be the same...The only difference I see is if the ps3's games are designed with people sitting futher away in mind (so the text is bigger).

I would use my laptop for everything but gaming.

so this is only for gaming?

hmmmk well it might work but

A. you will probably have trouble reading the text in the game and it might get sicking

but hey if you don't mind it go for it and if it bothers you, you can always get a monitor down the road.
